4. 4. Distributive Property - The property that states that if you divide both side of an equation by the same nonzero number, the new equation will have the same solution.   Symbols:  For any numbers a, b, c ,          a(b + c) = ab + ac Example:  3(2 + 5) = 3*2 + 3*5 = 6 + 15 = 21
