2. From the prelim on the left we can identify that I have
increased my skills and improved my camera shots over
the course of time. Similarly both the prelim and the final
cut have used an over the shoulder shot. I can tell that my
camera shots have improved as in the prelim there is too
much shoulder and distracts the audience. Also in the
prelim there is wasted space. There is obvious
improvement as in our final cut there is less shoulder
which makes the audience focus more on the character
and there is no wasted space.
The editing into both of these shots is very
different and contrasts between the two. On
the prelim one clip transitions into this clip but
is very fast and jumpy. I can tell there is an
improvement when editing as when I edited
the final cut video it looks a lot better and
more professional as I learnt how to create
continuity through final cut.
3. From the mise en scene and more
specifically the costume we can
identify that it is improved and we
have learn more about which costumer
suits which setting and genre and
applied it to the final cut on the left.
On our opening sequence we suited the costume to
the setting as we used the colour black to portray to
the audience that this was the antagonist and that she
is evil. This has been improved as in the prelim we
didn’t know much about costume and that is why this
costume in our prelim has no meaning and doesn’t
portray anything to the audience
4. Sound
I can identify that since the prelim the sound in our final video has
improved a lot mostly due increase in my skills and knowledge
including what I learnt about both diegetic and non diegetic sound. The
use of diegetic sound in our final video has improved since the prelim
as used little dialogue which is a typical convention of opening
sequence and dint have any research or knowledge of this before. The
use of non diegetic sound improved a lot as for the prelim we had no
non diegetic sound before and now we have added a lot in including
the music played mid way through our opening sequence when we see
the movies name.
5. We can tell that the use of camera shots has
increased since the prelim and that the shots
have gotten better. We can tell this by
comparing the two close ups used by the
prelim below and the final cut of our movie
hollow end on the right
This has been identified as improving
as the close up in our final video had a
strong purpose and played a key part in
our storyline, this differs from the
prelim as the shot had no real purpose
and was added in for no reason. This
shows a clear improvement for me.
