User experience has always been one of the big pillars for a successful product or a service. Meanwhile technology is disrupting the business arena and revolutionizing business model. In this context the role of user experience has become a crucial contributor for success. This talk gives a brief introduction into user experience and business disruption, exploring how they co-relate in terms of creating successful products.
So UX for disruption… Interesting.
We have UX here. And Disruption there.
So in my talk today we have two parts. First the red colour side of the presentation is about UX. We’re going to think about bare basic concepts of UX so we can understand anything on top of it. We’re going to figure out why certrain things have better UX than other things. We’re going to talk about how to learn UX.
And then we have the blue side of the presentation where we’re going to talk about disruption. Well what the hell is disruption. Doesn’t disruption sound bad? Well let me keep you on suspense for that part and lets get started on the Red part of my presentation.
In my overall talk Im not going to cover in-depeth knowledge into any of these topics, simply because 40mins is not enough for that. But if im able to give you the big idea, the under lying concepts thats what im aiming for. Once the concept hits you, you’ll be able to learn and understand everything on top of it. So if i can make you start thinking about these things thats what i want to do.
Ok before talking about User experience... lets get to know you all.
How many of you have at least gone for a lecture on UX?
How many of you know a few things about UX... Tried out some UX techniques somewhere?
How many of you know a few things about UX... But haven’t tried out any UX techniques yet?
How many of you don’t know much about UX?
Excellent! Thank you.
So we discuss three examples of experiences. I like how different factors contribute to define these experiences. What you see, sounds you here, what you were doing at that time, temperature, if its crowded, is it too slow. Then how you like these experiences may differ based on your personal preferences right? Some of you might not like the same experience as the others.
So together with all these factors, you create a perception about that experience. The feel of it. And that’s what gonna stay in your head. That’s what you gonna remember. Based on that you’ll try to have more of that experience or have less of that experience. You may tell your friends and so forth.
Users in most cases look just like the guy in the picture.
Sometimes wearing a silly red shirt and shorts too… but they can be easily confused.
May be they are confused on their own or as software sucess we’re very good at getting them confused and annoyed.
Well one good thing about users is they got needs. They have problems. Some of those problems can be solved by software. And that’s how we all make a living.
But who thinks users want software? They don’t. They want solutions to their problems. They want to get things done easy. Software and hardware we make is one way to go about.
Number one lesson in UX… What ever the solution we give to the users... In order to make sure it has a good user experience.. We need to know our users well. Remember experience varies from one to another so it can very well vary based on our users.

So we talked about UX... We have covered the red colour parts of the presentation. So lets move on the blue side... Lets talk about Disruption.
Hmm... What does disruption means. It normally means disturbance to a flow of things. Sounds like a bad thing. Yeah?
Well lets see
