2. Synopsis The following images are submitted for the SUNY Empire State College 2010 Academic Conference The design images were projects from a 2D design course, while the photography is simply a passion.
3. Bio: CJ Kamm I love anything creative! Art, design, music, photography and writing are just a few of my passions. I began Empire State College in 2008 seeking to change my life. At the time, I had never had the opportunity to attend college, but have found it to be one of the most remarkable experiences of my life. Prior to college, I spent many years in management for my own companies or those of others, with a strong emphasis on public relations and marketing. I am currently, a full time student in my junior year, working on a Bachelor of Arts degree in Creative Writing, but have also taken courses in art, along with web and two-dimensional design. Upon graduation, I plan to work as a freelance writer and photographer, and continue in design work. Additionally, my goal is to pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree in writing. 4. City News- Note: Full piece includes original cover page side by side. Assignment was to redesign the cover of this news and entertainment paper. The goal was to focus on aesthetics and organization. I re-created the header, to have information stand out clearly. I also designed a more beefed-up “City” logo to add more definition. Adding the Rochester skyline supplied a sense of style; it lets people know just what Ci ty we’re talking about, and creates a well defined header for the paper.
5. Book Cover - Science fiction is a personal passion, and I hope to work on this and other pieces upon completion of my studies. The title/concept is actually a story I’m currently working on. The background image is a jungle scene, which plays with the story.
6. Concert Poster- This was a design I was working on for a program our church was sponsoring. It is a final version of one of my class projects. I wanted a poster that would catch the eye of the passer by, but something formal, like the music being presented. I was also looking for cost effectiveness. I wanted a finished project that would look good in black and white or in color.
7. Billboard Advertisement- This project was a whimsy! I was working on a web design project and was downloading browsers for testing. Flock was recommended, but I had never heard of it before. I was looking for a simple, uncomplicated look that would appeal to a broad age group. I played on their name and came up with this billboard design.
8. Photography- Trumpeter The young swan is a resident at Clifton Springs Hospital and Clinic. The hospital sports a beautiful pond where residents and visitors can get a break from a traditional hospital setting. Here swans, ducks, turtles and fish are some of the best-fed creatures in the county. Camera- Minolta, Z1
9. Photography- Seneca Reflections This image comes from the shoreline of Seneca Lake at Seneca Lake State Park in Geneva, NY. I zoomed in on the image below the water. Camera- Minolta, Z1
10. Photography- Ontario Shoreline I am always fascinated by water and shorelines. This image is taken at B. Foreman Park in Pultneyville, NY. Camera- Minolta, Z1
