2. Before we went out to film we came across the
Fig Rig which we heard many other groups had
been using. It is a camera stabilization device
which was made commercially by the Manfrotto
Group, but designed by film director Mike Figgis
3. The image above shows
where cameras are meant
to be placed in the fig rig.
When we went out to film
we found this equipment
very useful. It was easier for
to hold the camera steady,
but also allowed movement.
It allowed panning, rotations
and high angle shots without
putting the camera directly
on the floor.
The fig rig kept the
camera balanced so that
our footage was framed
properly.
4. In the image above we tested out the fig rig in our last Friday lesson
before we broke up for half term. This was when we were first
introduced to this equipment, and we learnt how to insert the
camera into the fig rig.
5. Rebecca was showing Juliana and Tobi what shots would look like
if the fig rig was used. We felt that the fig rig reminded us of a
tripod, but not as static as that this enables more movement.
