1. The bounds of the function, marked by the dashed orange lines, are determined by the vertical translation (-3 in this case) and the amplitude (2). The Period is found by dividing 2*pi by the x-coefficient, which in this case is 1. Our period is therefore 2* pi . We mark the x -axis in units of (14) of the period… here that is pi 2. Finally, the ( x- pi) tells us to start the cosine pattern (beginning at the function’s maximum, -1) where x = pi.
