• Gather around shared vision and values
• Relationships are the currency - weave ‘invisible threads’
• Shift from an ‘either-or’ to a ‘both-and’ approach
• Focus on ‘with’ instead of ‘to’ or ‘for’
• Start small but take a long term view

• In each case, a group or idea was created and driven
by either individuals or a small group – the
Innovators.
• The idea gained momentum due to both the
strength of the Innovators and the post-quake
context.
• Once the idea had enough momentum, it begin to
function in a more mainstream manner.
Take a long term view
