1. What might his crying face look
like?

2. Once upon a
time, there was a
charming and
clever little boy
called Daniel.

3. Daniel always had colorful dishes to eat
and he also could wear clothes that were
suitable for the weather.
Fortunately, Dani
el could wear
warm and soft
clothes during the
winter and cool
and comfortable
clothes during the
summer time.

4. Every day, after doing homework, his baby
sitter used to take him to a beautiful
playground near his house.

5. After some time, Daniel started to
think his routine was a little boring...
So he quickly
decided he had to
find something
fun to do!

6. He sat down for two whole afternoons looking for fun
things to do. By the third day, after a couple of
hours, he suddenly noticed a strange child on the
playground...
He was called
Luiz...
He seemed to like
wearing old clothes.
Daniel also thought that
Luiz seemed
comfortable getting
dirty because of his skin
color…

7. While Daniel was watching, Luiz
accidentally stumbled and fell down on the
ground.
He seemed to be
really hurt, tears
came to his
eyes, but he didn’t
cry...

8. Daniel was very
curious about that! If
such a painful thing
couldn’t make Luiz
cry, then what would
make him cry? He
was wondering what
Luiz’s crying face
might look like.

9. Since that day, Daniel
waited for his baby
sitter to be
distracted with her
friends. Then, he got
closer to Luiz to
meet him personally.
After couple weeks, he
started trying to
make Luiz cry. He
thought it would be
fun!

10. Daniel waited for some kids to walk by, so he
could ask Luiz:
Wow, why do you wear such old clothes?
When was the last time you took a bath? You’re
grimy!

11. While the other kids
were laughing, Luiz
answered with a weak
voice and tears in his
eyes...

12. - These are the
clothes I have.
- I take a bath
everyday. This is
the color of my
skin. It’s different
from yours.

13. At times like these
Luiz used to be sad
for a while, but they
always started to
play again!

14. One day, Daniel was excitedly playing on the
slide, when he heard a loud noise, the sound of
something tearing.
When he got out
of the slide, the
other children
started to laugh
again, but this
time, they were
laughing about
hole in the middle
of his short. hole

15. Daniel didn’t know
what to do!
Humiliated, embar
rassed, sad and
angry he cried.
The more he
cried, the more
the kids laughed.

16. Suddenly he felt someone touching him on
the shoulder. Surprisingly it was Luiz offering
him an old but undamaged par of shorts.
Daniel felt ashamed about everything he had
done to Luiz and apologized.
Luiz smiled and said:

17. - That’s ok. I think
that guys wont
stop calling me
dirty and laugh
about my
clothes, but the
most important
thing is that now
I have a friend!
