Hawaii has a dry season (April to October) and a
rainy season (November to March.) In recent years,
however, even the rainy season has been relatively
dry as many parts of Hawaii have been suffering
drought conditions. The summer months can be hot
and humid, especially in Honolulu and Waikiki.
Hurricanes are rare but the hurricane season is from
June to November. Fortunately, the last major
hurricane to hit Hawaii was Hurricane Iniki, which
severely damaged Kauai in September 1992.
Amanda Hawaii
Sometimes called “The Gathering Place,” Oahu certainly
lives up to its name. The third largest Hawaiian island is
home to the majority of Hawaii’s diverse population, a fusion
of east and west cultures rooted in the values and traditions
of the Native Hawaiian people. It’s this fundamental contrast
between the ancient and the modern that makes discovering
Oahu so enjoyable.
The clear blue waters of Kailua Beach meet the metropolitan
cityscapes of Honolulu. The historic architecture of Iolani
Palace meets the timeless memorials of Pearl Harbor. The
big city of Waikiki meets the small town of Haleiwa on the
North Shore. Whether you’re hiking atop iconic Leahi
(Diamond Head), enjoying some of Hawaii’s best shopping,
or simply unwinding on the sands of the island’s beautiful
beaches, you’ll find variety at every turn on Oahu.
Oahu is generally drier on the Leeward Coast (west) and wetter
and greener on the Windward Coast (east). The resort area of
Waikiki and the surfing mecca of the North Shore offer pleasant
weather year round. Big wave surf season on the North Shore
begins in November and ends in February. World-class surfing
competitions also happen here between November and
December. During the summer, the big waves of the North Shore
subside for ideal beach going conditions.
There are generally two seasons on Oahu. Winter (November
through April), when temperatures typically range in the low-70s
to mid-80s, and summer when the high can run into the low-90s.
Average air temperature ranges from 74 degrees F (23 degrees
C) to 88 degrees F (31 degrees C) with moderate humidity of
53% during the day. Gentle trade winds keep even the warmest
months comfortable, so any time of year is a good time to visit
Oahu.
Home to the State Capitol, Honolulu is the vibrant epicenter of
Hawaii. Here you’ll find everything from historic landmarks and
treasured monuments to world-class shopping and a flourishing arts
and culture scene. Home to the majority of Oahu’s population, the
sprawling city of Honolulu spreads throughout the southeastern
shores of Oahu, from Pearl Harbor to Makapuu Point, encompassing
world famous Waikiki.
Honolulu has it all. This is the home of some of Hawaii’s most historic
places from Iolani Palace, the Kawaiahao Church, the Mission
Houses and the treasured artifacts of the Bishop Museum to iconic
landmarks like the Aloha Tower, the King Kamehameha I Statue, the
Duke Kahanamoku Statue and the historic Hawaii Theatre. Honolulu
is also Hawaii’s hot spot for arts, culture and entertainment. From the
nightlife, live music and fine dining of Waikiki to the art galleries and
underground bars of the Chinatown arts district. Whether you’re
looking for Hawaii’s finest museums, or Hawaii’s finest Hawaii
Regional Cuisine chefs, the best resorts, festivals, and events, or just
some fun things to do, you’ll find it all in Honolulu.

Arizona Memorial Uss Missouri & City Tour
Celebrate the honor, valor and courage of the U.S. Servicemen
who served during World War II on this special Stars and Stripes
tour. It's a nostalgic journey to the two historic places that marked
the beginning and end of the war for the United States - Pearl
Harbor and the USS Missouri. At the site of Pearl Harbor, you'll
view the Arizona Memorial where the remains of the USS
Arizona lay silent beneath the waves. The events of the 1941
attack on Pearl Harbor are unfolded through detailed narrations
and photos. While at Pearl Harbor, you'll travel across the Ford
Island Bridge to the historic USS Missouri battleship, otherwise
known as the "Mighty Mo." It was on the decks of this celebrated
warship that the Japanese surrender ceremony took place,
signaling the end of their involvement in World War II. Explore
the passages, rooms and corridors on a special guided tour.
From Pearl Harbor, you'll take a drive through metropolitan
Honolulu and up to the Punchbowl Crater for a drive through the
National Cemetery of the Pacific. After enjoying the serenity and
spectacular view atop Punchbowl, you'll wind through Downtown
Honolulu for a cruise through its many highlights.
Diamond Head Crater Adventure
Brave the heights of Diamond Head, Waikikis world
famous landmark. Your exploration begins when you
arrive at the ancient crater floor of Mount Leahi, the
Hawaiian name for this natural wonder.
A guide will assist you in explaining the fascinating early
history, geology, archaeology and mythology of Diamond
Head as you ascend the winding trail to the summit. You
will be rewarded as you reach its peak with an incredible
panoramic view of Waikiki, the emerald green Koolau
Mountains, and the sparkling blue Pacific far below.
It’s the perfect way to greet the morning of another day in
the beautiful Hawaiian Islands.
Dolphin Swim Adventure
For anyone curious about the fascinating world of dolphins, Sea
Life Park Hawaii offers you a hands-on view with the all-new
Dolphin Adventures Program! Not only will you interact with
these lovable creatures, you’ll get an overview of their anatomy,
physiology and training, as well as current marine conservation
efforts. Perfect for those 8 years and older, this 45-minute
session includes a 20-25 minute interaction period in shallow
waters where you and other guests will be guided through your
friendly dolphin encounter. You’ll have the opportunity to employ
a variety of positive reinforcements, including fish! Bring your
bathing suit and a towel and be prepared to view the dolphins in
deeper waters using "dive masks." Special souvenir photos with
the dolphins are available for purchase for you to share with
friends back home.
Grand Circle Island W/Dole Plant
Get to know Hawaii from the inside out with an all-day tour that
circles the entire island, covering 120 miles of Oahu’s best
sightseeing spots. For a close-up view of a seawater eruption,
you’ll visit Hawaii’s own Old Faithful known as the "Blow Hole",
where you’ll witness oceanside water play at full-force. Besides
Sandy Beach - a favorite for body surfers, you'll venture to the
most celebrated surfing zones in the world along the North Shore
- Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and the spectacular Banzai
Pipeline. You’ll stop at Kualoa Ranch for a scenic tour ride into
the Koolau Mountains overlooking Chinaman’s Hat and Kaneohe
Bay. At Dole Plantation you will learn about the history of
Hawaii’s pineapple industry and stroll through the Plantation
Gardens. In colorful contrast to the brilliant blue of the crystalline
waters, you’ll also find emerald oceans of shimmering pineapple
and sugar cane fields waving gently in the breeze. Take a
glimpse into the Hawaii of long ago as you pass remnants of old
homesteads on your return to Waikiki. Be sure to bring your
camera to record the marvels that gave Hawai'i its name and
reputation as Paradise.
One Hour Seaplane Sightseeing Tour
On arrival at our floating office you will be welcomed and briefed on a map
of the flight and the sights you will see. After you take-off from the water we
will climb out alongside Honolulu Harbor and Aloha tower, then pass
offshore of Waikiki Beach followed by a look down into Diamond Head
Crater, the prestigious Kahala area, Koko Head Crater, Hanauma Bay, Sea
Life Park, Kaneohe Bay and return through Pali Pass and a circuit over the
Arizona Memorial.
We will continue over sparkling Kaneohe Bay and along the Windward
Coast of O'ahu and show you Chinaman's Hat, the movie site of "Jurassic
Park"" and "Godzilla," Kahana Bay, the Polynesian Cultural Center, the
Mormon Temple, BYU Hawaii Campus, the old Kahuku Sugar Mill, the
Windmill Farm and the Turtle Bay Hilton Hotel. View the world famous
surfing areas of Sunset Beach, the Banzi Pipeline, Waima Bay and Haleiwa
as well as the cascading Waimea water falls from up above. Then we will
proceed southbound over awesome pineapple fields and the remains of the
old sugar cane fields, past Schofield Barracks, Wheeler Army Air Field and
finally Pearl Harbor, the Arizona Memorial, the Battleship ""Missouri"" and
Hickam Air Force Base before touching down at Keehi Lagoon for a picture
perfect landing.
With an island totally surrounded by water... nothing could be more fitting
than a tour by air in a seaplane. You will have a fabulous overview of the
island and its tropical scenery - even whales in season. This is a
breathtaking way to see Oahu's beautiful scenery and attractions.

Kauai is Hawaii’s fourth largest island and is sometimes
called the “Garden Isle,” which is an entirely accurate
description. The oldest and northernmost island in the
Hawaiian chain is draped in emerald valleys, sharp
mountain spires and jagged cliffs, aged by time and the
elements. Centuries of growth have formed tropical
rainforests, forking rivers and cascading waterfalls. Some
parts of Kauai are only accessible by sea or air, revealing
views beyond your imagination.
Occupying 552 square miles, Kauai is circular in shape with
lush, mountainous regions in its center and beaches
covering almost half its shoreline. Kauai’s age makes it one
of the most scenic islands in Hawaii from the 3,000-foot
elevations of Waimea Canyon to the waterfalls and deep
gorges of 5,148-foot Mount Waialeale in the uninhabited
center of Kauai, which you can only view by air.
Amanda Hawaii
Lihue is the government and commercial center of the island as
well as a cultural and historical area. This may be the most
traveled town on Kauai since its home to Kauai’s main airport
(the Lihue Airport) and Nawiliwili Harbor, the island's major
commercial shipping center and cruise ship port.
Lihue has a variety of beaches and natural wonders to explore.
Kalapaki Beach is the home of the Marriott Kauai's Beach Club
and the Kauai Lagoons Golf Club. Bodysurfing, windsurfing and
swimming make Kalapaki a popular destination. Ninini Beach is
home to an automated lighthouse, operating since 1897. And
just north of Lihue, don’t forget to stop at the Wailua Falls
lookout for an amazing waterfall view.
The Lihue area also has numerous historical spots including
Alekoko (Menehune Fishpond), a roughly 1000-year old
aquaculture reservoir; Kilohana, a historic plantation estate; and
both the historic Kauai Museum and Grove Farm Homestead
Museum. Lihue is your gateway to adventure on Kauai.
Kauai's East Side is sometimes referred to as the Coconut Coast for the
groves of coconut palms that grow in its resort areas. The most
populated district on the island, about 16,000 of the island's 62,000
residents reside in the Wailua/Kapaa area. Amongst the clusters of
coconut trees you’ll find historic places, amazing beaches and
memorable attractions.
In Wailua, you’ll find a variety of sightseeing opportunities and outdoor
activities. Kayak the Wailua River in Wailua River State Park, take a
boat ride to the Fern Grotto, or take photos at Opaekaa Falls. Don’t
forget to try and spot the Sleeping Giant in the Nounou Mountains or
take a hike up this scenic ridge. Sacred places like Polihau Heiau, the
large lava-rock temple of Kauai’s last king, Kaumualii, can also be found
on the East Side. And be sure to visit Kapaa Town to discover fine
Hawaiian craft pieces, aloha-print shirts, jewelry and art.
But the golden beaches of the Coconut Coast may be the area’s biggest
draw. Unwind at Anahola Beach Park, whale watch at Donkey Beach or
watch the surfers at Kealia Beach to the north. Lydgate Beach Park in
Wailua has two lava rock enclosed ocean pools that are perfect places
for families and first-time snorkelers. Fun in the sun awaits you on the
Coconut Coast.
Amanda Hawaii
The sunny South Shore of Kauai is home to historic Old Koloa
Town and the resort area of Poipu. This is an area of activity and
historic attractions. Whether you’re playing on a championship
golf course or exploring the Koloa Heritage Trail to learn more
about Kauai’s history, there’s something for everyone on the
South Shore.
A good place to start is spending the day at Poipu Beach Park,
which was once named one of America’s best beaches. Nearby
Spouting Horn features a blowhole that releases a spout of water
up to 20 feet or more into the air. See why Kauai is nicknamed
“The Garden Isle” at two National Tropical Botanical Gardens:
McBryde Garden, featuring 259-acres of gardens and world’s
largest collection of Hawaiian plants, and Allerton Garden, an 80-
acre gem with sophisticated garden design and the giant Moreton
Figs made famous in the film “Jurassic Park.” You’ll even find the
Kauai Coffee farm tour just a few miles west of Poipu. Discover a
variety of activities and attractions on Kauai’s South Shore.

Kauai's dramatic North Shore is an enchanting setting full of rugged mountains,
lush taro fields, heavenly beaches and spectacular sea cliffs. You’ll be amazed at
how much beauty can be found in just one area of Kauai.
Begin your journey on the island’s northernmost point. Historic Kilauea Lighthouse
is a wildlife sanctuary and a scenic spot for whale watching. Visit lovely Hanalei
Town, home to stretches of green taro fields alongside colorful shops, galleries
and restaurants. You’ll also find some of Kauai’s best beaches here including
Lumahai Beach, the setting for the film “South Pacific,” and Kee Beach,
ideal for sunbathing. You can also learn about native plants and see scenic
ocean views at Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens or at the 17-acre Limahuli
Gardens, part of the National Tropical Botanical Garden.
But the most stunning feature of Kauai's North Shore is the magnificent Napali
Coast. This 17-mile stretch of coastline is lined with cliffs up to 3,000-foot tall,
accented with lush green valleys, cascading waterfalls and sea caves.
Inaccessible by car, you can hike or take an air or boat tour to view this
breathtaking natural wonder.
The North Shore is also home to the upscale resort area of Princeville where you
can indulge in world-class hospitality and play at some of Kauai’s premier golf
courses. You can also find other accommodations here ranging from historic bed
and breakfasts to rental homes allowing everyone the opportunity to experience
the beauty of Kauai’s North Shore.

Go west and get off the beaten path on Kauai. The West
Side is home to a few of Kauai’s most historic places and
scenic wonders, the most famous of which is the
breathtaking Waimea Canyon, the “Grand Canyon of the
Pacific.”
But there is even more to explore. Head north beyond the
gorges and cliffs of Waimea Canyon and visit Kokee State
Park where you’ll find yet another amazing view from the
Kalalau Lookout. The two small towns of Waimea and
Hanapepe also grace the West Side. In 1778, Captain Cook
first landed in the Hawaiian Islands here at Waimea Bay.
Today, a statue of Cook stands in Waimea Town
commemorating this event. Hanapepe is the art capital of
Kauai with galleries, shops and eateries lining small town
Hanapepe Road.

Amanda Hawaii

  • 2. Hawaii has a dry season (April to October) and a rainy season (November to March.) In recent years, however, even the rainy season has been relatively dry as many parts of Hawaii have been suffering drought conditions. The summer months can be hot and humid, especially in Honolulu and Waikiki. Hurricanes are rare but the hurricane season is from June to November. Fortunately, the last major hurricane to hit Hawaii was Hurricane Iniki, which severely damaged Kauai in September 1992.
  • 4. Sometimes called “The Gathering Place,” Oahu certainly lives up to its name. The third largest Hawaiian island is home to the majority of Hawaii’s diverse population, a fusion of east and west cultures rooted in the values and traditions of the Native Hawaiian people. It’s this fundamental contrast between the ancient and the modern that makes discovering Oahu so enjoyable. The clear blue waters of Kailua Beach meet the metropolitan cityscapes of Honolulu. The historic architecture of Iolani Palace meets the timeless memorials of Pearl Harbor. The big city of Waikiki meets the small town of Haleiwa on the North Shore. Whether you’re hiking atop iconic Leahi (Diamond Head), enjoying some of Hawaii’s best shopping, or simply unwinding on the sands of the island’s beautiful beaches, you’ll find variety at every turn on Oahu.
  • 5. Oahu is generally drier on the Leeward Coast (west) and wetter and greener on the Windward Coast (east). The resort area of Waikiki and the surfing mecca of the North Shore offer pleasant weather year round. Big wave surf season on the North Shore begins in November and ends in February. World-class surfing competitions also happen here between November and December. During the summer, the big waves of the North Shore subside for ideal beach going conditions. There are generally two seasons on Oahu. Winter (November through April), when temperatures typically range in the low-70s to mid-80s, and summer when the high can run into the low-90s. Average air temperature ranges from 74 degrees F (23 degrees C) to 88 degrees F (31 degrees C) with moderate humidity of 53% during the day. Gentle trade winds keep even the warmest months comfortable, so any time of year is a good time to visit Oahu.
  • 6. Home to the State Capitol, Honolulu is the vibrant epicenter of Hawaii. Here you’ll find everything from historic landmarks and treasured monuments to world-class shopping and a flourishing arts and culture scene. Home to the majority of Oahu’s population, the sprawling city of Honolulu spreads throughout the southeastern shores of Oahu, from Pearl Harbor to Makapuu Point, encompassing world famous Waikiki. Honolulu has it all. This is the home of some of Hawaii’s most historic places from Iolani Palace, the Kawaiahao Church, the Mission Houses and the treasured artifacts of the Bishop Museum to iconic landmarks like the Aloha Tower, the King Kamehameha I Statue, the Duke Kahanamoku Statue and the historic Hawaii Theatre. Honolulu is also Hawaii’s hot spot for arts, culture and entertainment. From the nightlife, live music and fine dining of Waikiki to the art galleries and underground bars of the Chinatown arts district. Whether you’re looking for Hawaii’s finest museums, or Hawaii’s finest Hawaii Regional Cuisine chefs, the best resorts, festivals, and events, or just some fun things to do, you’ll find it all in Honolulu.
  • 9. Alii Kai Sunset Dinner Sail Come sail away into a golden Hawaiian sunset on the world's largest Polynesian catamaran - the Ali’i Kai. Fully equipped to make your ocean journey enjoyable, the Alii Kai is the ultimate island experience. Bask in the romantic Hawaiian twilight with a breathtaking panorama of the dancing lights of Waikiki. The rhythm of the islands comes alive with the jammin' entertainment by the live band, dancers and crew. Breathe in the cool evening air atop the Alii Kai's large deck as tropic breezes propel you across the waves. Relish the delectable buffet- style dinner on-board and relax with one cocktail or beverage of your choice.
  • 10. Arizona Memorial Uss Missouri & City Tour Celebrate the honor, valor and courage of the U.S. Servicemen who served during World War II on this special Stars and Stripes tour. It's a nostalgic journey to the two historic places that marked the beginning and end of the war for the United States - Pearl Harbor and the USS Missouri. At the site of Pearl Harbor, you'll view the Arizona Memorial where the remains of the USS Arizona lay silent beneath the waves. The events of the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor are unfolded through detailed narrations and photos. While at Pearl Harbor, you'll travel across the Ford Island Bridge to the historic USS Missouri battleship, otherwise known as the "Mighty Mo." It was on the decks of this celebrated warship that the Japanese surrender ceremony took place, signaling the end of their involvement in World War II. Explore the passages, rooms and corridors on a special guided tour. From Pearl Harbor, you'll take a drive through metropolitan Honolulu and up to the Punchbowl Crater for a drive through the National Cemetery of the Pacific. After enjoying the serenity and spectacular view atop Punchbowl, you'll wind through Downtown Honolulu for a cruise through its many highlights.
  • 11. Diamond Head Crater Adventure Brave the heights of Diamond Head, Waikikis world famous landmark. Your exploration begins when you arrive at the ancient crater floor of Mount Leahi, the Hawaiian name for this natural wonder. A guide will assist you in explaining the fascinating early history, geology, archaeology and mythology of Diamond Head as you ascend the winding trail to the summit. You will be rewarded as you reach its peak with an incredible panoramic view of Waikiki, the emerald green Koolau Mountains, and the sparkling blue Pacific far below. It’s the perfect way to greet the morning of another day in the beautiful Hawaiian Islands.
  • 12. Dolphin Swim Adventure For anyone curious about the fascinating world of dolphins, Sea Life Park Hawaii offers you a hands-on view with the all-new Dolphin Adventures Program! Not only will you interact with these lovable creatures, you’ll get an overview of their anatomy, physiology and training, as well as current marine conservation efforts. Perfect for those 8 years and older, this 45-minute session includes a 20-25 minute interaction period in shallow waters where you and other guests will be guided through your friendly dolphin encounter. You’ll have the opportunity to employ a variety of positive reinforcements, including fish! Bring your bathing suit and a towel and be prepared to view the dolphins in deeper waters using "dive masks." Special souvenir photos with the dolphins are available for purchase for you to share with friends back home.
  • 13. Grand Circle Island W/Dole Plant Get to know Hawaii from the inside out with an all-day tour that circles the entire island, covering 120 miles of Oahu’s best sightseeing spots. For a close-up view of a seawater eruption, you’ll visit Hawaii’s own Old Faithful known as the "Blow Hole", where you’ll witness oceanside water play at full-force. Besides Sandy Beach - a favorite for body surfers, you'll venture to the most celebrated surfing zones in the world along the North Shore - Waimea Bay, Sunset Beach and the spectacular Banzai Pipeline. You’ll stop at Kualoa Ranch for a scenic tour ride into the Koolau Mountains overlooking Chinaman’s Hat and Kaneohe Bay. At Dole Plantation you will learn about the history of Hawaii’s pineapple industry and stroll through the Plantation Gardens. In colorful contrast to the brilliant blue of the crystalline waters, you’ll also find emerald oceans of shimmering pineapple and sugar cane fields waving gently in the breeze. Take a glimpse into the Hawaii of long ago as you pass remnants of old homesteads on your return to Waikiki. Be sure to bring your camera to record the marvels that gave Hawai'i its name and reputation as Paradise.
  • 14. One Hour Seaplane Sightseeing Tour On arrival at our floating office you will be welcomed and briefed on a map of the flight and the sights you will see. After you take-off from the water we will climb out alongside Honolulu Harbor and Aloha tower, then pass offshore of Waikiki Beach followed by a look down into Diamond Head Crater, the prestigious Kahala area, Koko Head Crater, Hanauma Bay, Sea Life Park, Kaneohe Bay and return through Pali Pass and a circuit over the Arizona Memorial. We will continue over sparkling Kaneohe Bay and along the Windward Coast of O'ahu and show you Chinaman's Hat, the movie site of "Jurassic Park"" and "Godzilla," Kahana Bay, the Polynesian Cultural Center, the Mormon Temple, BYU Hawaii Campus, the old Kahuku Sugar Mill, the Windmill Farm and the Turtle Bay Hilton Hotel. View the world famous surfing areas of Sunset Beach, the Banzi Pipeline, Waima Bay and Haleiwa as well as the cascading Waimea water falls from up above. Then we will proceed southbound over awesome pineapple fields and the remains of the old sugar cane fields, past Schofield Barracks, Wheeler Army Air Field and finally Pearl Harbor, the Arizona Memorial, the Battleship ""Missouri"" and Hickam Air Force Base before touching down at Keehi Lagoon for a picture perfect landing. With an island totally surrounded by water... nothing could be more fitting than a tour by air in a seaplane. You will have a fabulous overview of the island and its tropical scenery - even whales in season. This is a breathtaking way to see Oahu's beautiful scenery and attractions.

  • 36. Kauai is Hawaii’s fourth largest island and is sometimes called the “Garden Isle,” which is an entirely accurate description. The oldest and northernmost island in the Hawaiian chain is draped in emerald valleys, sharp mountain spires and jagged cliffs, aged by time and the elements. Centuries of growth have formed tropical rainforests, forking rivers and cascading waterfalls. Some parts of Kauai are only accessible by sea or air, revealing views beyond your imagination. Occupying 552 square miles, Kauai is circular in shape with lush, mountainous regions in its center and beaches covering almost half its shoreline. Kauai’s age makes it one of the most scenic islands in Hawaii from the 3,000-foot elevations of Waimea Canyon to the waterfalls and deep gorges of 5,148-foot Mount Waialeale in the uninhabited center of Kauai, which you can only view by air.
  • 38. Lihue is the government and commercial center of the island as well as a cultural and historical area. This may be the most traveled town on Kauai since its home to Kauai’s main airport (the Lihue Airport) and Nawiliwili Harbor, the island's major commercial shipping center and cruise ship port. Lihue has a variety of beaches and natural wonders to explore. Kalapaki Beach is the home of the Marriott Kauai's Beach Club and the Kauai Lagoons Golf Club. Bodysurfing, windsurfing and swimming make Kalapaki a popular destination. Ninini Beach is home to an automated lighthouse, operating since 1897. And just north of Lihue, don’t forget to stop at the Wailua Falls lookout for an amazing waterfall view. The Lihue area also has numerous historical spots including Alekoko (Menehune Fishpond), a roughly 1000-year old aquaculture reservoir; Kilohana, a historic plantation estate; and both the historic Kauai Museum and Grove Farm Homestead Museum. Lihue is your gateway to adventure on Kauai.
  • 39. Kauai's East Side is sometimes referred to as the Coconut Coast for the groves of coconut palms that grow in its resort areas. The most populated district on the island, about 16,000 of the island's 62,000 residents reside in the Wailua/Kapaa area. Amongst the clusters of coconut trees you’ll find historic places, amazing beaches and memorable attractions. In Wailua, you’ll find a variety of sightseeing opportunities and outdoor activities. Kayak the Wailua River in Wailua River State Park, take a boat ride to the Fern Grotto, or take photos at Opaekaa Falls. Don’t forget to try and spot the Sleeping Giant in the Nounou Mountains or take a hike up this scenic ridge. Sacred places like Polihau Heiau, the large lava-rock temple of Kauai’s last king, Kaumualii, can also be found on the East Side. And be sure to visit Kapaa Town to discover fine Hawaiian craft pieces, aloha-print shirts, jewelry and art. But the golden beaches of the Coconut Coast may be the area’s biggest draw. Unwind at Anahola Beach Park, whale watch at Donkey Beach or watch the surfers at Kealia Beach to the north. Lydgate Beach Park in Wailua has two lava rock enclosed ocean pools that are perfect places for families and first-time snorkelers. Fun in the sun awaits you on the Coconut Coast.
  • 41. The sunny South Shore of Kauai is home to historic Old Koloa Town and the resort area of Poipu. This is an area of activity and historic attractions. Whether you’re playing on a championship golf course or exploring the Koloa Heritage Trail to learn more about Kauai’s history, there’s something for everyone on the South Shore. A good place to start is spending the day at Poipu Beach Park, which was once named one of America’s best beaches. Nearby Spouting Horn features a blowhole that releases a spout of water up to 20 feet or more into the air. See why Kauai is nicknamed “The Garden Isle” at two National Tropical Botanical Gardens: McBryde Garden, featuring 259-acres of gardens and world’s largest collection of Hawaiian plants, and Allerton Garden, an 80- acre gem with sophisticated garden design and the giant Moreton Figs made famous in the film “Jurassic Park.” You’ll even find the Kauai Coffee farm tour just a few miles west of Poipu. Discover a variety of activities and attractions on Kauai’s South Shore.
  • 44. Kauai's dramatic North Shore is an enchanting setting full of rugged mountains, lush taro fields, heavenly beaches and spectacular sea cliffs. You’ll be amazed at how much beauty can be found in just one area of Kauai. Begin your journey on the island’s northernmost point. Historic Kilauea Lighthouse is a wildlife sanctuary and a scenic spot for whale watching. Visit lovely Hanalei Town, home to stretches of green taro fields alongside colorful shops, galleries and restaurants. You’ll also find some of Kauai’s best beaches here including Lumahai Beach, the setting for the film “South Pacific,” and Kee Beach, ideal for sunbathing. You can also learn about native plants and see scenic ocean views at Na Aina Kai Botanical Gardens or at the 17-acre Limahuli Gardens, part of the National Tropical Botanical Garden. But the most stunning feature of Kauai's North Shore is the magnificent Napali Coast. This 17-mile stretch of coastline is lined with cliffs up to 3,000-foot tall, accented with lush green valleys, cascading waterfalls and sea caves. Inaccessible by car, you can hike or take an air or boat tour to view this breathtaking natural wonder. The North Shore is also home to the upscale resort area of Princeville where you can indulge in world-class hospitality and play at some of Kauai’s premier golf courses. You can also find other accommodations here ranging from historic bed and breakfasts to rental homes allowing everyone the opportunity to experience the beauty of Kauai’s North Shore.
  • 49. Go west and get off the beaten path on Kauai. The West Side is home to a few of Kauai’s most historic places and scenic wonders, the most famous of which is the breathtaking Waimea Canyon, the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” But there is even more to explore. Head north beyond the gorges and cliffs of Waimea Canyon and visit Kokee State Park where you’ll find yet another amazing view from the Kalalau Lookout. The two small towns of Waimea and Hanapepe also grace the West Side. In 1778, Captain Cook first landed in the Hawaiian Islands here at Waimea Bay. Today, a statue of Cook stands in Waimea Town commemorating this event. Hanapepe is the art capital of Kauai with galleries, shops and eateries lining small town Hanapepe Road.
