  6. 6. Philippine FestivalsOne popular custom in the Philippines is the holding of the townfiesta. This is done to honor the patron saint of the town. Someexamples of these fiestas are…The Ati-Atihan Festival is a feast held in January in honor of the Santo Niño (Infant Jesus). The festival has tribal dance, music, costumes and weapons that parade the streets. The Pahiyas Festival is a feast held in May in honor of the San Isidro Labrador (the Patron Saint of Farmers). People decorate their homes with food as a thanksgiving for their good harvest.
  7. 7. Philippine FestivalsChristmas is the most elaborate festival in the Philippines. These are some of our Christmas traditions. Parol (Filipino Christmas Lantern) Filipinos put star-shaped lanterns in their houses, offices, schools, malls & streets to celebrate Christmas. Simbang Gabi (or Night Worship) This is a series of nine dawn masses that starts at 4:00am. Noche Buena This is the Christmas Eve family feast eaten after attending the midnight mass.
