A friend asked me how does one build a mobile app. Since that is not what I do I am hoping people smarter than myself can help me put together an answer.

2. App Requirements Should run on iOS and Android devices. Interactive Users will send queries via SMS or by selecting a category from within the app. SMS queries will have to be in a particular format. Backend system should recognize queries & match them to answers in a database. A URL pointing to the answer will be sent by SMS or email. 2

3. App Requirements Should allow broadcast of the query to a Closed User Group via SMS or email from within the app. Separate email & SMS clients not needed. App should open user’s preferred client. App should have a favourite/expert list for each category of questions. Replies within CUG should be one-to-one, not ‘To All’. Multiple answers submitted by CUG should be viewable as a stack of URLs. 3

4. App Requirements Sync Q&A between different devices owned by a user. Rating system for peer answers. In-app ads. 4
