Objective: Position the two UC solutions to be clear on why you would need one versus the other. Note to presenter: You can remove this slide and use the previous slide to position the two solutions. We now have two UC offerings, each is designed to address two distinct customer needs: OpenScape Xpressions - Customer needs a highly packaged full-featured UC solution that does not require any special integration. OpenScape Enterprise - Customer needs a highly open and advanced UC solution that can be integrated with other business (horizontal or vertical) applications and with other vendor UC solutions such as those from Microsoft or IBM for example.
OpenScape Xpressions enables companies to cost-effectively deploy (or migrate to) advanced, full-featured UC without deployment complexity and while leveraging their existing IT/Telephony infrastructure. **OpenScape Xpressions V5 and V6 can run without the OpenScape UC Server. Key Points: Cost-effective, low complexity path to UC The solution provides a simple path from voice messaging to comprehensive UC and can support (just about) any PBX environment. Less infrastructure impact means that it will work with what you currently have. No need to change PBX or IT environments. It’s less IT labor-intensive than most UC solutions, doesn’t require hardware or software replacements or upgrades, and takes less time to deploy. Pre-packaged UC includes built-in voice conferencing, Web conferencing, IM, presence, unified messaging, and fax. This means there is no need for complex integrations and it is easier to deploy and maintain as a result. Full featured UC The solution accelerates decision-making and crises resolution by connecting colleagues in real-time on the first try. It accelerates responses to customers by increasing the availability of individuals and teams. It reduces the need for business travel by enabling dispersed teams with rich multi-media conferencing, saving on average $3400 per person annually. It improves first attempt communications and eliminates wasteful time, by knowing when and how to reach colleagues with a single click. It enables teleworking; Companies can eliminate the incremental costs spent by employees working from home without unified communications (found to be on average $1200 per person per year).
OpenScape is how Siemens makes it happen, solving the issues/barriers mentioned on chart #4. Videoconferencing fully integrated with the enterprise SIP-based VoIP PBX and the UC Suite. Open instead of closed, can connect any person into the videoconference via SIP phone, PC or dedicated HD video end-point Affordable HD end points, interoperable with OpenScape US Server Call a phone-like internal number, not an IP address Video shows on the directory and on UC interface – together with all other means of communications – phone, e-mail, IM Presence
And this is what the solution looks like when you put it all together. It is important to note that critical to the successful deployment of FMC is the functionality of the Dual Mode device. Siemens Mobile Connect Client software will reside on the device and this along with the device firmware will manage the calls. It remains unclear how the mobile operators will respond to the Enterprise FMC deployments. Because GSM network operators( TMobile, Cingular/AT&T) allow users to simply change handsets by moving a SIM card to a new device, it is easy for enterprises to implement dual mode devices without the operator’s support. In the case of CDMA operators (Verizon, Sprint/Nextel), operator support will be needed to implement FMC. Siemens continues to work these issues with device manufacturers and carriers to ensure smooth operations for the enterprise.
