5. Piran 皮蘭
Piran is probably the most beautiful of Slovenia's coastal towns, perched on a tiny piece of land
jutting into the sea. It feels more like an Italian coastal town, without all the Italian tourists, and for
good reason: Piran was part of the Venetian empire from the late 13th century to the end of the
18th century and then part of Italy from 1918 til 1947.

Piran (Italian: Pirano) is a town in the Municipality of Piran in southwestern Slovenia on the Gulf of
Piran on the Adriatic Sea. It is one of the three major towns of Slovenian Istria. The town has much
medieval architecture, with narrow streets and compact houses. Piran is the administrative centre
of the local area and one of Slovenia's major tourist attractions. Until the mid 20th century Italian
was the dominant language, but was replaced by Slovene as populations moved.

Picturesque Piran , sitting at the tip of a narrow peninsula, is everyone’s favourite town on the
Slovenian coast. Its Old Town, one of the best preserved historical towns anywhere on the Adriatic,
is a gem of Venetian Gothic architecture. In April or October, though, it’s hard not to fall in love with
the winding Venetian Gothic alleyways and tempting seafood restaurants.

Tartini Square (Tartinijev trg). the beautiful oval-shaped main square, with a
statue of the famous violinist Giuseppe Tartini. This was once the marina,
but after it silted up it was paved over with white stone.

18. Giuseppe Tartini (8 April 1692 – 26 February 1770)
was an Baroque composer and violinist.
朱塞佩•塔蒂尼 (1692年4月8日-1770年2月26日) 是一

He was born in Piran, a town on the peninsula of
Istria, in the Republic of Venice (now in Slovenia).

Tartini most familiar work is "Devil's Trill," which is
a G minor Violin Sonata, with its well-known
difficulty of playing skills.

20. Venetian House

example of gothic Venetian
architecture and the oldest
building on the square. Built by a
rich Venetian merchant to house
his mistress, spot the inscription
between the upper windows: it
says Lassa pur dir, or "let them
talk".

21. Town Hall (Občinska palača) 市政廳
In the central axis at second floor of Town Hall was built a stone figure of
Venetian lion with an open book. Open book meant peace, but war is closed.
在市政廳二樓中間牆面鑲嵌著石獅子,右腳捧著一本翻開的書。「翻開的書」意味著
和平與戰爭結束。
22. Tartini House 塔蒂尼之家
The museum displays Tartini's violin, a copperplate
engraving of his dreams, and his portrait.
館內部分展示塔蒂尼的小提琴,他夢想的銅版雕刻,和他的肖像。
31. Church of St. George (Cerkev sv. Jurija). The inside is quite beautiful. Nice
view of the city and harbour from the belltower.

47. The 1st of May Square, or the Old Square, is the centre of the old Punta. The main streets
of Piran meet here. Inhabitants and visitors come here for shopping or a glass of native
red wine. In the summer months, many musical, dance and theatre performances are
held in the centre of the square.
五一廣場或舊廣場,是往日皮蘭的中心。主要街道均交會在此。居民和遊客來這裡購物或喝一杯
當地紅酒。在夏季,許多音樂會,舞蹈和戲劇表演都在廣場中心舉行。
In the centre of the square, there is a stone rainwater cistern, which was built after a
severe draught in the year 1775. At the back of the cistern, there are the statues of two
babies, one holding a fish and the other a pot. Gutters were connected to these statues
from the surrounding roofs. The water running through the stone blocks, gravel and
sand was stored clean in the cistern. In the middle of the square there are two smaller
wells, water was pumped out with a hand pump, which is still preserved.

The stairs leading onto square are decorated with two allegorical statues of Law and
Justice. On the shield of Law is inscribed data about the well: its date, description of
purpose and the names of citizens who contributed to its construction. On the shield of
Justice are the town coat of arms, the Marcello family coat of arms and the Bemba family
coat of arms.
廣場階梯旁豎立兩座雕像,代表法律和司法。法律盾牌刻著有關水井的資料記載:建造日期、目
的以及捐獻者的名字。正義之盾則刻著皮蘭和著名家族的徽章。
