  3. 3. First of 3 key events: An international workshop tradition begins In the fall of 1997, Subhash Lakhotia hosted a workshop entitled “Molecular Biology of Stress Responses” in India. This set the pattern for future CSSI international workshops: About 100 participants, 70% from the host developing country and neighboring countries, emphasis on quality science, student participation, and culture.!   4. 4. Second Event: An international congress in Budapest, 1997 The Budapest Congress attracted over 700 colleagues from over 62 countries. With an ! attendance more than twice the 1996 Cold Spring Harbor meeting, a very popular venue that ! had filled beyond capacity, this congress demonstrated that there was great interest and enthusiasm! from the global scientific community to support and attend international meetings in our field.! 90th birth anniversary of Hans Selye Peter Csermely, Chairman! 2nd CSAC Editorial Board Meeting: Drs Hickey, Yura,! Bound volumes of a journal are rarely seen today. ! It is a good way to show the growth of our journal over! its 18 year existence. Dramatic increases in the number of ! published papers began in 2008, the start of the Springer Era. ! In that year Cell Stress & Chaperones became published by Springer and is part of the world-wide distribution system for Springer electronic and print journals.! The first public display of CSAC was during! The German Society for Cell Biology meeting,Hamburg, 1996.!
