2. Last class before the end of class, we
made one Polymer with corn starch in
it to see. However, because of the time
we didn’t mix it well and after we put
the polymer in the fridge it turned out
like this.
3.
4. Out of curiosity, we microwaved it to see if it’ll
still work. So we microwaved it for 20 seconds,
just as we expected, we turned soft but the
outer layer is still hard. But this proved that the
polymer can still be working, if we mix it well.
5.
6. After this, we decided to add cornstarch into the
polymer. We used 4 cm of glue, 28 ml of water,
30ml of Borax, one small sized spoon of corn
starch and mixed it as best as we can. After the
polymer is not sticky anymore, we coded the
polymer in cornstarch to make it more stretchy.
Now our hand warmer is done.
7.
8. Not only hand warmers, out group also decided
to make hand coolers. We used the same
ingredients but with more borax. During the
experiments we discovered that the borax and
contain a lot of heat and cold, but it melts when
there’s too much heat, so for the hand coolers
we used more Borax to make it more effective.
