Dinosaur games
1. GAMES - Print pages back to back on card.
1) PAIRS CARDS HAVE RED BORDERS There are 9 pairs.
Half have a big fern on the back, and half have a pointed fern.
Words are: diplodocus, spinosaurus, stegosaurus, styracosaurus, triceratops,
tyrannosaurus, velociraptor, apatosaurus, brachiosaurus
Everyone should try and name their pictures or say something about them (e.g.
carnivore/herbivore) at each turn even if they don't match - and not just say No!
2) CHAIN GAME CARDS HAVE BLUE BORDERS You should have 12 cards. Start with
cards spread out, pictures facing up. Turn over any card. Read the word. Turn over the
picture for that word and place the card on top of the first one. Read the word now on
top etc. etc. When the last card is on the top, pick up the pack. If the top word does not
match the picture at the bottom of the pack, there has been a mistake. Start again!
2b) You can also start with the words facing up at the beginning instead.
Play the same way: pick a word, turn it over and this time find the word for the picture
you see on the back and so on.
3) DOMINOS Cut the page into domino shape cards i.e. each card will have a cream
square and a blue square. Encourage naming or describing.
