engage, discover, and act differently for the
achievement of optimal outcomes
29. Strategic Foresight: Application
When designing and executing strategy, it is imperative to maintain systemic awareness, which involves the
continuous practice of Strategic Foresight.
Source: Marsh, N., McAllum, M., & Purcell, D. (2002). Why strategic foresight? In Strategic Foresight: The power of standing in the future, (pp. 1–13). Crown Content.
Strategic Foresight delivers the freedom to think the unthinkable through creating and evaluating scenarios; it
offers a range of possibilities depending on current responses to such possibilities (Marsh et al., 2002).
Integrating Strategic Foresight into strategy development necessitates and empowers new ways of thinking,
engaging, learning, and acting (Marsh et al., 2002).
Using Strategic Foresight results in more coherent, insightful viewpoints of possible futures unobstructed by
how things look today (Marsh et al., 2002).
