Turnitin is a plagiarism detection tool that allows instructors to check student papers for originality. There are several steps to using Turnitin:
1. Login to the ecompanion portal and select Turnitin.
2. Click "Add New Assignment" to create an assignment for students to submit papers.
3. Students can then upload their papers and instructors will receive an originality report showing what percentage of the paper is plagiarized and the sources of unoriginal content.

Step 1: Login to ecompanion by going to
www.keiseruniversity.org and type in your username
and password
Step 2: Go to Class and select the class you are
teaching
Step 3: Click on Turnitin
Step 4: Click on Add New Assignment
Step 5: Choose Options
Step 6: Upload Paper
Step 7: View Originality Report
4. What if I Am New to Turnitin?
-If you do not have Turnitin on your ecompanion, you
can go directly to the website:
https://turnitin.com/static/index.php
-Enter your Keiser e-mail and click on “forgot
password.”
-Next you can reset your password, add a class, and
upload papers!
10. Submit Paper
Click on submit paper and enter the information
Browse for the file, upload the file, and click submit
Click submit for a second time and view the paper by
clicking “go to inbox”

If you submit the paper twice, it will come up as
having 100% similarity to a student paper.
Turning a paper into Turnitin makes it part of the
search, so if a student tries to turn in a paper that a
former student turned in, it will come up a
plagiarized.

in “grademark” mode and clicking the rubric icon at
the bottom of the screen.
