is a known as the
Carving Capital of the
Philippines. Our town
has had a long
reputation for its
craftsmen highly skilled
in wood carving and its
embellishment (wiki).
It is a place of different
kinds of handicraft and
handcrafted statues
and sculptures.

3. Angono
is known as
the ‘Art Capital of the
Philippines’ because it
is the only town,
despite its small
geography and
population, which has
produced and home to
two National Artists
namely Carlos
‘Botong’ Francisco for
Painting and Prof.
Lucio San Pedro for
Music.

4. Angono
The Higantes
Festival is a local festival
held annually In Angono,
Philippines, where
hundreds of giant papier-
mâché puppets are
paraded, representing the
common people's mockery
of the bad hacienda (land)
owners of the past during
Spanish colonial rule. It
has evolved into also
celebrating the feast of
Pope St. Clement I, every
22 and 23 November.

5. Pina and jusi
are the traditional
fabrics used by the
bordadoras. Pina is a
soft, fine, flexible, and
durable off-white
fabric about two to
four inches in length.
It is derived from the
finest mature leaves
of the red Spanish
variety of pineapple.

6. A balisong, also
known as a fan knife,
butterfly knife or Batangas
knife, is a type of folding
pocketknife that originated
in the Philippines. Taal,
Batangas is traditionally
known for crafting
balisong (butterfly knife).
History recounts that a
certain Perfecto de Leon
started balisong making in
the province in early 1900s
until the industry
boomed—the town
produced export-grade
knives—and Taal became
known as the Balisong
Capital of the Philippines.

7. Lucban is well-known
for its Pahiyas Festival
where it showcases
the locals' gratitude to
San Isidro Labrador
for their bountiful
harvest. Aside from its
prestigious festival,
some of the highlights
of Lucban include
Kamay ni Hesus, The
Church of St. Louis
Bishop of Toulouse,
and the Rizal Shrine.

an administrative region of
the Philippines, designated
as Region V. Bicol
