• Tell your story in 1 minute or less.

• You are probably not going to actually start a
company…
• You probably should not. See Paul Graham’s article in the
assigned readings
• …but, understanding how you would and experiencing
what it feels like will help you “live in the future, see
what is missing and build it.”

4. So…what do we hope to accomplish here?
• Learn how to start a startup
• Learn how to learn how to start a startup
• This stuff is always evolving – learning how to learn (and how to share) is
critical
• Learn how to create value in the world
• What to build?
• How to build it?
• How to get it in the hands of those who can benefit from it?
• How to do all of this as painlessly and as quickly as possible?
• How to have an impact on the world in a meaningful and sustainable way?

• Cram as much into 10 classes as possible
• Learn by doing, suspend your disbelief
(just enough) to make it a valuable
experience
• Learn by sharing with other teams and
the NCSSM community (alums, friends,
mentors,…)

• Start with the 4 currently proposed ideas
• Need 2 people from each proposal to pitch that idea to the rest of the class
• The remaining 12 students form pairs (6 pairs)
• Brainstorm a new idea
• Pitch your idea to the rest of the class
