The Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences of the Friedrich‐Schiller University
Jena is recruiting for a W2‐Professorship for Social Pedagogy at the Institute for
Educational Science.
The successful applicant will be responsible for research and teaching with a
special focus on social management in the master program social
pedagogy/social management, bachelor program in educational science, and in
teacher education. The successful applicant is expected to have an outstanding
research record, in one or more of the following fields: socio‐political and ‐
administrative conditions of socio‐pedagogical theory and action, quality
management, analysis and development of socio‐pedagogical organizations, and
socio‐pedagogical professionalization. Qualifications for employment are an
excellent first degree and higher degree (PhD) in Educational Science.
Furthermore, a postdoctoral lecture qualification (Habilitation), or its equivalent
are also required. Experience in teaching undergraduate and post‐graduate
students is essential. Engagement in the scientific cooperation within the
institute, as well as in an interdisciplinary context of the faculty is expected.
Experience in third‐party funds rising is expected, as well. The Friedrich Schiller

Warwick Social Sciences Doctoral Training Centre Full-time ESRC funded PhD
collaborative studentship
The relationship between language skills reported by the Pearson Test of English
Academic and students' subsequent academic performance
The Centre for Applied Linguistics, University of Warwick and Language Testing,
Pearson are delighted to announce a full time ESRC funded collaborative
studentship for entry in October 2012.
This ESRC-Funded Collaborative PhD will examine the relationship between the
language skills profiles reported by the Pearson Test of English Academic and
students' subsequent academic performance as perceived by the students, their
EAP tutors and their academic lecturers. The project is a collaboration between
the Centre for Applied Linguistics at the University of Warwick and Language
Testing, Pearson. It will involve working closely with these institutions. The
successful applicant will be predominantly based within the Centre for Applied
Linguistics under the supervision of Dr. Claudia Harsch. Specific periods over the
three years will be dedicated to working directly at the Language Testing division
at Pearson, London. The successful candidate will be expected to start in
October 2012.
Students wishing to apply for this award should hold (or expect to obtain) an MA
with distinction or merit in Applied Linguistics with a focus on Language Testing
and Assessment or another relevant topic by October 2012. This studentship is
available to Home and EU students, according to fee status, that meet Research
Council eligibility requirements based on residency. It will pay the full fees for the
5. successful candidate along with a tax free maintenance allowance in line with the
UK Research Council standard stipend (£13,590 in 2012/13). The University of
Warwick has been awarded prestigious Doctoral Training Centre status by the
ESRC. The DTC is run by the University's Graduate School and the successful
applicants will acquire their postgraduate training from the provision of the

Assistant Professor (Career Position) - Post-doc (40 hours/week), Department
of Organisation and Learning, starting from 01.10.2012 for the duration of six
years, with the possibility for a qualification agreement that may lead to a position
as an associate professor.
Duties: independent research in the field of business and vocational education;
independent, high-quality and research-driven teaching; student supervision and
co-supervision of student theses; participation in organisational and
administrative tasks. Qualifications: doctoral degree in social science and/or
business administration; excellent knowledge of research in business and
vocational education; scientific achievements beyond the
dissertation/PhD; substantiated skills in research methods (qualitative or
quantitative); experience in thirdparty- funded activities; experience abroad;
ability to cooperate in regional and international settings; creative problem-
