What we do is to build up communities and helpm those who wish to form legal sregistered societies in accordance with Pakistani law. We also provide education in the area of environment, basic rights, and how to adequately negotiate with local government and community leaders to finding solutions to the concerns and issues held by the community and society; and hopefully we inspire people to continue on their own efforts to keep what we at PGP help start, may it continue..

Formation of a "Society"
The "Sabazar Welfare Society"
Stems from an electrification
issue. A group formed to
address electrical concerns as
many have children and
elderly in the home.
The group decided that as a
collective negations with the
local area providers was more
effective and formed the
"Sabazar Welfare Society"
11. 11
PGP Round table with the Society
Partners for Global Peace representative sat with the group of people
within the society as they wanted to find solutions to other issues
besides electrification. They were concerned about their
environment, health and the health and safety of their family and
children as well concern for others in the area.
The Sabazar Welfare Society led the topics of concern and PGP

information and contacting those who could provide further advice,
information and or direct services.

"Clean the Streets" Project and tree plantation
Education of how the environment affects your mental
and physical health; environmental concerns we as local
and global citizens share; what impact can we make to
make a difference locally.

Clean the Streets and Tree Plantation
Trees were bought by the society
members and donated to
those who could not afford a
tree. Trees made a great
physical impact as well as
psychological as families went
for walks more often, children
played outside more. Seeing a
grate improvement to the area
lent a happy environment as a
majority of area people
participated in both projects.
14. 14
The "Sabazar Welfare Society"
Next was health and safety of
children and families during
evening and night walks and
outings.
This promoted the want for
street lights which was
installed.

The Sabazar Welfare
Society lastly voted
unanimously under the
guide of PGP to form a
Community Garden to
address child and
family hunger of the
poor living in the area.
This also promoted opportunity for wanted nutrition based information.
PGP was able to express how nutrition and education of young children
was equally important.

Solving problems finding Solutions
As apart of the Islamic Five Pillars of Faith,
and the minority faiths, values and beliefs:
One concern was that of the poor,
impoverished and those finding no other
solution but to take their life and that of their
children due to poverty.
The Sabazar Society formed to tackle
common issues such as utility issues, street
lamps and security guards at night.
However they also felt the needs of the
people who is also apart of their community.
19. 19
Solving problems finding Solutions
PGP mentioned to the Society
members of the plan to host
weekly free food events every
Friday. PGP in it's
Memorandum included Umar's
Pantry. The response was
positive.
The community Garden will give a
portion of every harvest to the
area needy to stave off child
poverty and family hunger of
those in need via PGP and
Umar's Pantry. This was
unanimous by the Sabazar
Society. PGP is grateful.

The Sabazar Society had
issues with a transformer,
PGP was able to help by
contacting the right people
through proper channels
and encouraged the
members to keep calm
during this process and
discuss the common
issues of workers and
management and
consumer.
21. 21
Solving problems finding Solutions
The same with the street lamps
and also a less hands on
approach but contributing to
the current security choice of
guards.
22. 22
The Outcome:
Parents have been impressed by the lessons learned by example and doing.
This improves the quality of life for the children and for adults alike.
The Community Garden is an effort by the community to teach empathy to
their children while reinforcing it within their society. It goes in hand with
cultural faith based beliefs as well as teaching land conservation,
agricultural and husbandry of vegetation, the promotion of utilization
natural resources for food production as well as the physical, psychological
and ecological health values of plants and vegetation in an urban residential
setting.
23. 23
The Outcome:
As a result the collaboration of
the Sabazar Welfare Society
and PGP, children have
learned how to negotiate
better, keep the environment
cleaner and are more aware of
the equality that all humankind
shares regardless of social
economic status, gender or
title. They have learned who
makes up a community;
teachers, friends, neighbors,
law enforcement and service
providers as well as others
around us.
*This is also keeping with
cultural and faith based beliefs.
24. 24
The Outcome:
We again are very thankful for the donations to Umar's Food Pantry.
Umar's Food Pantry
25. 25
The Outcome:
The donations to Umar's Food Pantry for
harvest distribution to the poor and
needy is seen as a positive and
sustainable way to meet immediate
needs by utilizing land not owned by a
private individual.
There are several lessons for adults and
children alike to learn from the
Community Garden. We hope you will
contact PGP to find out. It teaches
about husbandry of plants,
environmental concepts of "think
global act local", supportive to
humanitarian efforts and ecological
supportive to wildlife and more.
We again are very thankful for the
donations to Umar's Food Pantry.
26. 26
Conclusion:
To motivate residents and a community to work together means to find
and address their common concerns. Educate them on points of
interest, allow for free discussion of ideas and solutions as well as
offer tools and choices as of how to address concerns that directly
effects and affects them as individuals and as a collective.
Work towards resolving mediate concerns and create long term goals
is key to longevity and success.
Teach the effectiveness of working with providers as partners with
common goals towards conflict resolution.
Create hands on inclusion, guided by the group to address their social
and environmental concerns.
