  1. J.M.J Ch Marist Brothers NOTRE DAME OF KIDAPAWAN COLLEGE Teacher Education, Liberal Arts & Nursing Department (TELAND) Teacher Education General Education Course Syllabus I. VISION A Marist community of disciples working together for social transformation towards the fulfillment of the Kingdom of God. II. MISSION To rekindle the FIRE of God’s love through integral evangelization by providing a responsive, quality Christian education among the young. III. COMMITMENT We commit to create an evangelized academic community working for the YOUTH, particularly the least favored, by upholding their (HUMAN) dignity, respecting their religious freedom (CATHOLIC), inculcating in them a sense of nationhood with global perspective (FILIPINO) and living the Marian Virtues (MARIST). IV. PROGRAM OUTCOMES (given) This degree program aims to develop highly motivated and competent teachers specializing in the content and pedagogy for secondary education. Graduates of BSEd should be able to practice the teaching profession in the Secondary Level, and; a. Articulate the rootedness of education in philosophical, socio-cultural, historical, psychological, and political contexts. b. Demonstrate mastery of subject matter/discipline. c. Facilitate learning using a wide range of teaching methodologies and delivery modes appropriate to specific learners and their environments. d. Develop innovative curricula, instructional plans, teaching approaches, and resources for diverse learners. e. Apply skills in the development and utilization of ICT to promote quality, relevant, and sustainable educational practices. f. Demonstrate a variety of thinking skills in planning, monitoring, assessing, and reporting learning processes and outcomes. g. Practice professional and ethical teaching standards sensitive the changing local, national, and global realities. h. Pursue lifelong learning for personal and professional growth through varied experiential and field-based opportunities. Course Code GEC 2 Course Title Science, Technologyand Society Course Description (CMO) This course deals with interactions between science and technology and social, cultural, political and economic contexts that shape and are shaped by them; specific examples throughout human history of scientific and technological developments. (CMO No. 20, Series of 2013) This interdisciplinary course engages students to confront the realities brought about by science and technology in society. Such knowledge and technological development happen in the context of society with all its socio-political, cultural, economic and philosophical underpinnings at play. This course seeks to instill reflective knowledge in the students that they are able to live the good life and display ethical decision making in the face of scientific and technological advancement. This course includes mandatory topics on climate change and environmental awareness. Course Outcomes (given) The graduates have the ability to: a. develop highly motivated and competent professionals specializing in the content and pedagogy for their specialized field b. demonstrate in-depth understanding of the diversity of learners in various learning areas b. manifest meaningful and comprehensive pedagogical content knowledge (PCK) of the different subject areas
