Two major features of Microsoft’s next-generation console are dropped by the company. These are regular online authenticity checks required to play video games offline and restrictions on what players can do with games after purchase. Microsoft says, in an update issued Wednesday, the shift in Xbox One policy stems from consumer feedback. “While we believe that the majority of people will play games online and access the cloud for both games and entertainment, we will give consumers the choice of both physical and digital content,” Don Mattrick, president of Microsoft’s Interactive entertainment business, said in a statement. “We have listened and we have heard loud and clear from your feedback that you want the best of both worlds.”
