  3. 3. <ul><li>The tides of the S.F. Bay caused the oil to spread faster than normal, this had effect on a large portion of the Northern California Coast </li></ul><ul><li>50+ public beaches were closed including Fort Point, Kirby Cove, and Crissy Point </li></ul>

Effects on the Environment <ul><li>According to the CDFG (California Department of Fish and Game), approximately 1080 birds were collected alive and 420 of those birds were rehabilitated and released </li></ul><ul><li>Total of 800 birds dead </li></ul><ul><li>Fishing/Crabbing was restricted due to the loss of fish and crabs </li></ul>
