Evaluation of the different hardware I used for my media practical.

1. HARDWARE
EVALUARIONOF MYADVANCED MEDIA PORTFOLIO

2. FOUNDATION TO ADVANCED…
 My skills of using hardware have developed
since my foundation media portfolio, I have
picked up many new skills which have helped
my advanced media portfolio look much
more efficient and professional.

3. PREMIERE
 For my foundation and advanced media portfolio
I used Adobe Premiere Pro to edit.
 However my skills have advanced from AS, last
year when editing I used simple editing
techniques such as a cut and fade.
 This year I used more advanced editing
techniques, for example when editing the sound,
I used key frames to fade out the music when
dialogue was being used, and then building the
music back up after. By using more advanced
techniques I was able to make my trailer more
advanced.

4. DSLR CAMERA
 When using the camera last year we
shot using the auto setting, meaning
that the camera picked up on natural
light and shot in the mode most
suited to the conditons.
 When shooting with the DSLR this
year, we used the aperture and IPO
to change how much light ws being
let into the lens, this helped us
because we filmed all our shots in
the evening/night, therefore the
camera needed enough light to pick
up on the characters however we still
wanted there to be a feeling of
mystery by having shots in the dark.

5. Settings on the DSLR when
shooting…
This scene was shot in a
dark room, therefore we
wanted to make the shot
lighter in order for the light
to focus around the
femme fatale when she
was talking.To do this we
increased the aperture. We
did this by lowering the f-
stop number to f8.We
then increases the ISO, we
did this by making the ISO
800.

6. Settings on the DSLR when
shooting…
For this shot we wanted
to make it darker, we
wanted to portray this
character in a negative
way therefore we used
darker shots to show their
dark side. For this shot we
had to decrease the
aperture, to do this we
chose a higher f-stop
number of f11, we then
had to decrease the ISO,
we did this by making the
ISO 100.

7. TRIPOD
 When using the tripod last
year we used it to keep the
camera still, this was
effective however it did not
demonstrate that I
understood the different
types of camera movements.
 This year we used to tripod to
get different angles and also
different camera movements
such as a pan (Brighton eye
shot, Celia’s husband Marcus
about the get shot by
Johnny)

8. GARAGE BAND
 When recording sound last year we used the
audio which was filmed whilst shooting the
clip off the camera, this made the audio
sound quiet and it wasn’t good quality.
 When recording sound this year I used garage
band to use the microphone setting to record
voice overs, I then imported them as sound
files into premiere to essentially use as voice
overs.

9. SURVEY MONKEY
 This year I used survey monkey in order to
gain quantitative data.The survey consisted
of 10 closed questions all about the film
poster.
 I was able to view all responses which
enabled me to see what I needed to change
and what features were liked.
 By using applications such as this one I was
able to send out multiple surveys out to an
audience to gain lots of data.
