The Bristol Technology and Engineering Academy launched in 2013 as a Centre of Excellence for studies in science, engineering, technology and maths for Key Stages 4 and 5. As a University Technical College, the BTE Academy focuses on working in partnership with local businesses to provide students with alternative learning methods that have more relevance in the workplace. These include industry projects in collaborations with partners such as Rolls-Royce and the Royal Navy. Students at the Bristol Technology and Engineering Academy are able to pursue their specialist subjects alongside the full quota of core GCSE, A-Level or equivalent subject qualifications.
