2. Sculpture Garden
• Local businessman and artist, Mr. Richard Salmon,
has joined together with SAMFA to propose the
creation of an outdoor sculpture garden.
• Their proposal is to add 7 to 9 additional spots at
Sunken Garden Park, supplementing the 3 existing
spots (added in 2008), for a total of 10-12 where artists
could temporarily place their sculptures.
• No expense to the City.
• Some adjustment to mowing patterns and irrigation
systems.
3. Sculpture Garden
• Artists selected through competition by a judging panel
in the summer headed by SAMFA.
• Sculptures placed in October and remain until the
following year’s selections.
• SAMFA coordinates placement and removal of the art.
• Public Art Commission would get opportunity to review
each piece before placement.
• Sunken Garden Park selected due to its visibility,
proximity to the Visitors’ Center and central location.
• Public Art Commission unanimously approved this
concept at its meeting on April 4, 2012.
