On this first slide I wanted to open up the presentation announcing how to lose weight by living better and through a vegetarian eating. The picture helps to visualize my message. I could have pasted a skinny twiglet woman with a rockin body, but I wanted to show something that says healthy rather than skinny.
Since we all say that people obsess about losing weight I thought it would be a good idea be to start off with a graph to hook adults in by seeing the BMI difference between vegetarians and non-vegetarians. That way when they do see the difference, they will be more inclined to be âwowedâ and/or interested in asking questions on how it is possible and want to jump on the weight loss/ healthy eating bandwagon. A lot of people donât even know much about nutrient dense foods or the definition of what a nutrient dense food is. What I would be saying to my audience in this slide is, explaining what nutrient dense foods are, that our diets should consist mostly of nutrient dense foods to keep us feeling good and healthy, and describe a food examples. For example I have blackberries and broccoli posted up on the slides. I would announces how blackberries are high in vitamins and minerals, such as, vitamins E, A, K, and C and also high in dietary fiber, potassium, and magnesium. On the left is a picture of raw broccoli which is a great source of protein, calcium, iron, and thiamin. Broccoli also contains vitamins A, C, and K.
As you take a moment to look at this chart you will notice the results of the vegetarian diet and the non-vegetarian diet. The key nutrients I want you to notice on this is the cholesterol results and sodium results. Those two categories can be a danger to our bodies if they get too high. Sodium plays a role in our blood pressure, high levels of sodium can lead to high blood pressure and if it becomes severe it can damage nerve cells. Cholesterol is also a nutrient that should be kept at a certain level, if cholesterol levels are too high, it can increase your risk of getting heart disease, or having a stroke. As you can see eating a plant based diet helps keep sodium and cholesterol levels low.I found this chart through an article in the Journal of the American Dietetics Association.
We all know dieting can be tough, but really, itâs the mindset going into it. When starting a diet you Always want a good reason, you want that drive and motivation to better your health and lifestyle. Whether itâs because you want to feel good, get in shape, or look good at your 20-year High School Reunion. Whatever your reason is, the best thing is to hold to it and stick with it. Another step in Substitution, think of a meal that you love, and then think of different ways you can substitute a few of the fatty or unhealthy ingredients for vegetables, or tofu. Tofu is is so versatile you can make so many different things with it, and it is actually good!My biggest advice is to PLAN AHEAD. I promise it will make a worlds difference when it comes to dieting. Especially with plant based meals, planning ahead will really help. I find that the more you plan and prep your meals, literally or in your head, you begin to crave the next meal which makes the dieting so much more enjoyable and a lot easier.

I decided to show these slides because I want my audience to get a visual on how a lot of people view a diet.A very common thing people mistake dieting for is eating less will help them lose weight. That is actually false, you can still eat your heart out! Just eat your heart out with the RIGHT things. Eating small portions of unhealthy options wonât get you anywhere AND you will still feel bad after eating it. Loading your body with nutrient dense foods keeps you full and really does help you feel worlds better as you continue.
Like in the last slide I want to really let my audience know that eating large portions of the right foods like leafy greens, vegetables, and fruits will help them stay full and better. Being on a diet does not mean they need to starve themselves to lose weight. If they stick to healthy foods and add a bit of physical activity they will NATURALLY lose weight and learn how to keep that weight off.
