3. RESEARCH
I started my research by looking at different music videos to gain
inperation for my own music video by looking at the settings and the
techniques there using within the video. In my research I also listend
to different song to see which I though was the best for my idea.
Song: for my song I used hell n back by bakar. I used this song
because my idea was I wanted to follow someone through there day
and this song gave off a happy, chill and uplifting fell which I wanted
within the video. I looked into using maby rap songs or pop song yet I
just didn’t think they would fit. With the pop songs I thought it would
gain my audiences attention and with rap song they used way to
much afensive language which would possibly losse a percentage of
my audience.
Music videos: I looked at music videos from people such as loyel
carner and sam Tompkins, this was because the videos were all
follow through which inpiraed me for my own video it wasn’t just
filled with performance shots and pointless stuff they all had thius
cool storyline which I wanted to implant into my own video. The
thing that inspired me the most about these videos were the
settings, they were constantly changing and giving off a different
vibe in each one which I found very effective ingaging me into each
4. PLANNING
I started my planning with mind maps, this
is because its such an easy way to get your
ideas onto a page. i was doing ideas from
the crew, location, equipment and the stly.
The was an incredible help because I was
building the how the music video was
going to be in my head and it also gave me
structure of how I would going to do it. I
also did sumarys such as 5 oppitunitys of
my ideas where I spoke about how I would
improve my editing skills and be able to
use effects and use a camera properly. I
also did a sumarys about my 5 main
restrictions such as the weather and how
that could ruin my filming as well as with
the resictics I had with the pandemic and
my lack of equitmen.
The things I would improve with my
5. TIME MANAGEMENT
Throughout this project my time management hasn’t
been the best and I believe this is due to the promblems
I have faced through the pandemic. My planning and
research were all in on time and I think I managed them
quite well yet when it cam down to the production I
struggled this was due to not having the crew I was
hoping and having to go for my back up crew which lived
out of York so we could only have one day to get this
done within a couple of hours we were lucky that the
weather was good. Due to the pandemic I have been
stuggerling to get things done due to lack of
motavationa and self belief so I have fallen behind with
work so that’s the main thing I need to focus on is not
falling behind.
6. TECHNICAL QUALITIES -
CAMERA
Both videos having done a close up
on the proformer while they are
doing a performance shot.
Both music videos had a story line to
follow through. i thought I did this
better due to the angles video adding
random people in a different time as I
just stuck with the same people which
made it easier to follow.
The angles music
video was higher
camera quality this is
due to them have a
massive budget for the
video and also a
camera crew compared
to me using a phone n
having one person
7. TECHNICAL QUALITIES –
EDITING/POST
Both edited the
music to make
the lip-synch.
In my music video I edited this clip
shown to go in reverse to give my video a
variety of editing techniques. A variety of
techniques was not shown within the
other music video.
The main thing in my opinion which
made the angles music video look
better than mine had to the be the
colour grading I really struggled with
this in my editing so that’s something I
8. AESTHETIC QUALITIES
Im happy with how the video came out I liked the look of the
shots and the follow through yet each bbit could have been
a lot better if I had the time to look over and see what needs
improving yet with one day to film that wasn’t possible. I
though it was creative at the time yet now I believe it’s a
very simple idea so id like to improve that for next time. I
did like my concept a lot yes I was simple but I believe I
would of not enjoyed filming as much if I had a different
concept so im happy with that. I used a vintage coulour
overlay and added some noise to give it that retro feell witch
I think look cool so all together the outcome of the video im
happy with.
9. AUDIENCE APPEAL
I think my video will appeal to my audience
just because its just a fun day out skate
boarding and having a laugh which everyone
can relate to. This video can appeal to a lot of
ages yet I believe mainly 15-19 year olds
because its just young people having a laugh
and having a fun day out. I think my video will
engage a lot of new people because I think its
simple so there's not loads of things going on
so its an easy watch.
11. FEEDBACK 1-LOTTIE
What did you like about the product?
I liked the product because its very modern and quirky. It has
interesting camera angles that make it very fun to watch and keeps
me engaged through out the music video. I enjoy that’s the story
within the music video is a happy one as this make me feel happy
when I watch it.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
Better camera quality could have been used to make the video more
professional. More people could have been shown but I understand
due to COVID-19 this was a tricky thing to schedule. Overall is a
good music video with lots of skills being shown.
12. FEEDBACK 2-THOMAS
What did you like about the product?
As a skater I like the way the music video incorporate a day in the life
of a skater and makes it look fun. I feel this will encourage or
interest people into taking up the sport and therefore bringing
awareness to how amazing it is.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
The acting in the product could have been better. The actor could of
put in more effort to look more relaxed and enjoy there time in the
music video.
13. FEEDBACK 3-CLARE
What did you like about the product?
I found this product to be a good piece of work as they have
demonstrated there skills by using lots of different camera angles
and creative shots. I also enjoyed how they have got real skaters into
to act in the music video and they look like there having a really fun
time which also makes me feel positive when I watch.
What improvements could have been made to the
product?
More variety of settings and shot could have been used even though
there shot were very good I feel like they were quite similar to each
other and the place where they filmed there were only two different
settings I would of hoped for me.
14. PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY
What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
I agree with the fact that the actors could of acted more
relaxed in the music video I could of improved this by
filming over a couple of days but because of the timescale
we had to film in one day. This could of made it stressful for
the actor and therefore the performance wasn’t as good as
it could of been.
What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
I disagree with the settings/locations comment as I could
not use many different locations within my music video
because of COVID-19 retractions this made it hard for me
to give variety in my product. I Also do not agree with the
camera quality feedback. With equipment being short I
could not get the camera I needed and had to use my
iPhone this made the overall quality reduce but I did use the
most UpToDate iPhone to give the best performance I could
and believe it looks very professional.
15. PEER FEEDBACK SUMMARY
Changes I would make to my product are the settings, I would like
to include different places in my music video including, clear
country roads, indoor skate parks and more skaters to give the
video a more diverse view into skating. If this was possible due to
do with the circumstances.
With more time I could change the type of shots in the video, I
would include a wider range such as, wide angle shots as this is a
classic skater camera angle, more zoom shots to focus on certain
skate tricks and freezeframes. This would of given my product an
artistic view.
Overall they are the only things I would change, I feel I did my best
in my ability and am very happy with my finished product.
