This document discusses how to use Pinterest to grow a business. It explains that Pinterest allows users to collect and organize things they find interesting online by "pinning" them to boards. It recommends businesses create boards related to their industry, follow others in their field, and develop hashtag projects to engage customers and share content on social media. The goal is to use Pinterest as a tool to promote a business and connect with clients, customers, and followers.

Editor's Notes
In this lecture we will cover off on Pinterest, a great tool that really adds a visual impact to your social media activity and sharing/engagement strategies. Not only are everyday citizens people using Pinterest but businesses are starting to see the power of the platform and create some outstanding boards that not only showcase their business but have boards that reflect the ‘likes’ of their clients, customers and friends.
Think of Pinterest as a massive cork board and you set up multiple boards on your board and pin pictures, relating to links you have found on the internet. Fashion, Renovations, Dream Homes, Places you want to visit, places you have been too, wedding planning, honeymoons, pets, your children. Teachers and educators use can use it too to add class boards. As stated previously small business owners can add boards reflecting their business and what their clients may like. Overall it is a great tool for social engagement.
Here are some sample boards, as you can see they can be named anything, and here I have one for ‘random’ ‘pins’ and one for ‘travel must do’s, again reinforcing if you are thinking of planning a holiday what a great way to have all your thoughts of where to go on one board.
As you can see here, I have boards on New York City one of my favorite cities to visit, Australia, and photography, and these are just a small sample of the boards I have on my Pinterest site. Once again the boards you create is totally up to you and your creativity and private or business needs. Direct sellers for instance of beauty products could set up boards that have their products and beauty tips. Direct sellers of latest weight loss coffee can have coffee boards, with fun coffee pics, café pics, etc to get people in the mood for drinking coffee. Retail stores just set up baords around what stock they sell, homewares, clothing etc
As you can see from this business board they have other boards within their site that are not just related to their business. Use your creativity if you have a business be in touch with your clients and customers. View other boards in the search facility of competitors and see how they are doing it.
Once you add a pin to one of your boards you have a selection to go back over time and share on your other social media accounts. This is a great way to increase engagement on your other sites. Make sure you uncheck sharing on Facebook and Twitter as it locks in last media share and every time you pin it will share to those sites. You do not want to overload your other sites with Pinning. More on this later in the lesson.
Use your creativity and create a #tag project. My market tend to collect justice, law related items so I have created a #tag project My Mug Of The Week, #MYMOTW where I share a new mug each week on my Pinterest board My Mug Of The Week and this allows me to share the Pin with all my followers on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. It is up to your imagination.
You can also create a daily Pin and as you see here I have created a #tag for the Cyber Guardians Online #CGOL Picture of the day and I share it daily on Facebook Twitter and Instagram.
Remember Uncheck the sharing box for Twitter and Facebook as each time you check the box to share it will be on the next time you add PINS from your desk top so make sure you uncheck these after you use them.
Social media as constantly referred to in this course is all about being social, use Pinterest as a great tool to engage and to plan your next trip, renovation or fashion purchase. The list of boards is endless.
