Steve gets paid $3.00 for every shirt he
sews. If he sews 8 shirts in an hour how
much does he make?

Solution

3 x 8 = $24.00
Example 2
Betty makes $30 for every 50
sandwiches she makes. If she makes 350
sandwiches, how much is her gross pay?


Solution

She gets paid 350/50 = 7 times
30 x 7 = $210
Example 3
Dave makes shoes. He gets paid $2.50 for
every shoe he makes. He makes 4 shoes per
hour. He works 40 hours per week. How much
does he get paid in a week?

 Solution

 2.5 x 4 x 40 = $400
