to call to report suspected child abuse can be very stressful. You often worry about the
child, you worry that you may be mistaken, and you worry that the people you are reporting
with find out that you called Child Protective Services.Over a very long career, I’ve had to
call to report four cases of suspected abuse of a child, and one time I had to report elder
abuse. Everytime I felt sad, uncomfortable and anxious, but I knew it was necessary.It is
very important that as a teacher you address your fears and focus on the fact that you are
required by law to report any suspicion of abuse or neglect.This week you have an
opportunity to ask questions, share your experiences ( please do not mention names or
schools where you may have had to report) but we can discuss incidents in a confidential
