- Trading a professional baseball player to a new team makes people wonder whether the athlete will perform better or worse with his new organization. Statistics show that player execution with the first team depends on previous environment, physical well-being, monetary satisfaction, coaching chemistry, and new teammates’ acceptance. If any of these factors have a negative impact on the player, it could result in a noxious trade. Teams go out of their way, to offer swapped players a warm welcome and help them get acquainted with their unfamiliar surroundings.
- The player is in a new environment with new management, new city, and new fans. The more the team and the community welcome the new player, the more comfortable he will feel. If the player does not adapt well to the new background it will be difficult for the player to perform under pressure. If the player cannot perform in rough situations, the trade will be negative for the player and the team.
- The player has gone through a huge change, and he needs to feel at home so he can focus on playing baseball without worrying about fitting in with the team. Coaches must begin the process by making it clear of what is expected of the player. If the coach does not take the time to build up the players confidence in a game situation, the player may feel pressured resulting in a bad trade.
- The new player needs friends that he can talk to and count on for support. The player’s teammates need to help him feel at home. It is crucial that the teammates welcome the player with open arms because the more the traded player feels at home the more relaxed he will play. If the player feels alone and unwanted by the new team, he will perform poorly.
- If a player is settled into a new environment with friendly teammates and good coaching, the trade will most likely end up being successful.
