What is a “MANAGER”?
A Manager is the person responsible for planning and directing the work of a group of
individuals, monitoring their work, and taking corrective action when necessary.
What is a “CONNECTED MANAGERS”?
A Manager who is not connected to his employees or subordinates through formal relations
i.e. through social media like mails etc but also have some physical and emotional
proximity with them.
What are the ADVANTAGES of the managers who are
connected?
 Managers will identify weak performances and support it quickly.
 Managers can get an opportunity to give feedback and also to air any
concerns or issues that an employee may have and deal with them
before they become a problem.
 Managers will have the opportunity to spot talent and support your
employee t o develop through the company.
 Managers can set up his team to dilver successfully-aligned with the
company
What are the DISADVANTAGES of Managers not
connected?
 HIGH TURNOVER- It’s impossible for the company to retain the
employees if the manager is abarasive and do not connect to the employees
due to which productivity decreases and turnover increases.
 INCREASED STRESS- An unconnected manager who just wants
work from the employees leads to physical, emotional and mental fatigue of
the employees which leads to absenteeism and delay in work.
 LOWER MORALE-If the employee feels poor treatment from the
supervisor which leads to difficulty for the employees to maintain a high
energy and enthusiasm for the job and feel boredom for the job.
How to be a good connected manager?
 BE REAL AND TRANSPARENT- If an employee ask for the feedback be
honest to them. That does’nt mean we have to be harsh but shielding
employee from the truth is also not good
 MAKE TIME FOR THEM- It’s hard for the employee to feel appreciated if
their Manager doesn’t have time for a simple conversation.
 DO THINGS THAT SET YOU APART- Being creative with the employees
perk’s can go for a long way. It doesn’t have to be costly; it just has to show
that you have thought about making employees personal and professional
life better.
 SHOW YOU CARE ABOUT THEIR PERSONAL LIFE- It’s completely
possible to show care about employees personal life withot being
creepy
 RELATE TO THEM; DON’T ACT LIKE YOU’RE ABOVE THEM- As a
leader, employees sometimes place the manager on a pedestal, but putting
yourself on their level by showing your own vulnerabilityand imperfections
help them overcome their challenges.
INNOVATIVE WAYS OF TEACHING THIS TOPIC
1. Move from projects to Project Based Learning. Most teachers
have done projects, but the majority do not use the defined set of
methods associated with high-quality PBL. These methods include
developing a focused question, using solid, well crafted performance
assessments, allowing for multiple solutions, enlisting community
resources, and choosing engaging, meaningful themes for projects. PBL
offers the best method we have presently for combining inquiry with
accountability, and should be part of every teacher’s repertoire.
2. Use creativity tools. Industry uses a set of cutting edge tools to
stimulate creativity and innovation. As described in books such as Game
storming or Beyond Words, the tools include playful games and visual
exercises that can easily be used in the classroom.
3. Traditional lecturing, for many, means standing at a podium or in
front of a class and delivering a monologue. While the content is
interesting, student interest wanes after approximately 15 to 18 minutes
4. For some professors, PowerPoint are the bane of their existence. For
other professors, it is an essential classroom tool. Using the PowerPoint
as an image-providing device is a good way of grabbing attention while
lecturing. Using the PowerPoint to lay the foundation for theories is very
useful.
5. CASE STUDY can also help to understand the topic in a better way.
lecturer can give real life examples and experiences so that students can
relate to the topic in a better way.
LEARNINGS FROM THE TOPIC

employees for the long run benefits.
 This will improve the working efficiency of the employees which will
leads to higher productivity.
 The managers which have a better connectivity with the employees
lead to a better working force and satisfied customers.
 A better connection between employees and manager creates a good
working environment in the work place.
 This connectivity enhances interapersonal skill of the staff.
CHALLENGES I FACED IN MAKING THIS REPORT
 It was difficult to find the ways of being a good connected manager.
 CONNECTED MANAGER is a new concept that’s why content about this topic is not
available in text books or the internet.
