k) Air Lock doors – arrangement & to understand how the at fan house reversal of air is
    arranged.

 Ventilation Appliances :

  Study the purpose and sketch the arrangements for the following appliances with
  dimensions.
a) Ventilation stoppings.
b) Ventilation doors – In haulage roadways and in other gallery
c) Air crossing :-
d) Air lock doors underground
e) If available regulators
f) If available fire stopping – its specifications, fitting preparatory stoppings in depillaring
    area.
g) Inspection of stoppings by supervisors / astt. Managers.
  Understand The Terms
a) Intake airway and downcast shaft.
b) Upcast shaft and return airway
c) Study ventilation plan to see the distribution of air inside the mines, splits, ventilation
   districts.
d) Study of auxillary fan arrangement if installed and precautions.specifications of fan,
   specification of tubing’s, layouts.

 Ventilation Measurements

 a) Measurement of quantity flowing
    i) Anemometer ii) Velometer
 b) Measurement of humidity
    i) Hygrometer ii) katathermometer
 c) Measurement of following gases
    i) Fire damp – flame safety lamp M. S. A. methonometer
    ii) Carbone monoxide – co detector
 d) Pressure survey -
      Try to accompany the ventilation officer / supervisor at the time of measurement to see
 the details of operation of equipment and the method of taking measurements.

 Coal Dust Treatment

 a) Study the stone dusting procedure
    i) Type of stone dust being used, Specifications
    ii) What are the places where it is used
    iii) What quantities are used
    iv) Method of spreading stone dust
    v) Dusting plan
    vi) Statutory requirements
 b) Coal dust collection / cleaning and removal – sampling study sampling plan
    i) Method of collection of samples
    ii) Frequency of collection of sample
    iii) Analysis done on coal sample
    iv) Record of stone dusting and dust sampling
 c) Water spraying for dust suppression
    i) At faces
    ii) At conveyor junction etc. layout of pipe line and pump for the purpose.

 V) DRILLING AND BLASTING

  A) Drilling
a) Name of drilling machine and its specification voltage rating, type of motor used, pilot
   circuit for operation its importance.
b) Type of drill machine – rotatory or percussive
c) Type of drill rod, its length,
d) Arrangement for fixing drill bit
e) Type of drill bit,
f) Diameter of drill hole in mm.
g) Average time taken to drill one hole.
h) No. of holes drilled on face with size of face width x height.

  B) Blasting
a) Name of explosive used - i) During development ii) During depillaring
b) Type of explosive used –
c) Weight of cartridge
d) Diameter of cartridge
e) Length of cartridge
f) Charge per hole
g) Total explosive charged in single face / single hole
h) Stemming material used –
i) Type of initiation – direct
j) Type of detonator used – its construction details and specification.
k) Study of following blasting tools.
     i) Exploder – its name, type – magneto or battery condenser capacity in terms of round
     it can blast at a time, operating details – direction of key
     ii) Circuit tester for continuity
     iii) Crimper
     iv) Scraper
     v) Crack detector
     vi) Stemming rod
         i) Powder factor
         ii) Detonator factor

 VI) MINE SUPPORTS

  Study the different types of supports used , in the mine and collect the following
  information regarding each type of support –
  General Information
a) Name of support – prop / chock / cog / cross-bar / safari support / roof stitching / roof
     bolting / friction prop / hydraulic prop / brick walling / any other type.
b) Type of support – permanent / semi permanent / temporary
c) Method of erecting each type of support.
d) Load bearing capacity of support – in case of hydraulic support i) Yield load and ii)
     Setting load. Additional information to be collected in case of
  i) Prop support – dimensions of lid, wedge, and base plate (if exit)
  ii) Chock / cog support – dimensions of sleepers used, pressure releasing devise (if
  installed)
  iii) Roof bolting – type of roof bolt, depth of hole, if mortar (mixture of sand and cement )
  is used sand : cement ratio.
e) Systematic support rules of the mine. – copy should be obtained.
f) Withdrawal of supports – study the various type of safety devices used in withdrawing
     the support. Good sketches of all types of supports should be brought with dimensions
     work with Limba Misty on the faces for few days.


 VII) MINING MACHINERY

 A) Transportation
a) General haulage system :- Rope haulage / belt conveyor
b) In case of rope haulage
                  i) Number of haulages
                  ii) Type of each haulages
                  iii) Capacity or rating of each haulage motor
c) Safety appliances used on each haulage like i) Stop block, ii) Run away switch, iii)drag
   ect. – Sketches with dimension to be brought.
d) Signaling arrangement and code of signals
e) Other haulage feathers like i) Rerailer ii) Manholes iii) Tub arrester iv) Pullcord system
   in case of conveyor. v) Roolers.
f) Type of haulage rope – no of strands, splicing of ropes
g) Surface tippler – its layouts, tipping arrangements
h) Track, crosses, sleepers, Track fillings. Method of laying track – work with track layer
   for few days.
  B) Pumping Arrangement
a) Type of different pumps used in the mines their i) Head, ii) H. P. – Study the Literature
   available in mech. Department.
b) Electrical switches – detail.
c) Starting & stopping of pump.
d) Sketch general arrangement – starting from strainer / foot value, suction pipe, pump,
   delivery pipe, delivery valve,
e) Arrangement for priming of the pump.
f) Sketch of tub with name of the parts & its capacity
g) Couplings, Sockets, clips etc used with haulage
h) No of tubs (loaded & empty) attached to different capacity haulage.

  C) Shaft
  In case shaft is the mode of entrance
a) No. of shafts
b) Finished diameter of each shaft.
c) Type of lining
d) Shape of shaft
e) Headgear – General construction
f) Type of head gear winding-
g) No. of cage
h) Various safety appliances like – i) Safety hook (type) ii) Automatic contrivance iii) Cage
    arrester,
i) Construction and use of keps
j) Guides – type, and its use

 VIII) SURFACE FEATURE

 a)   Study of lamp room layout – cap lamp,
 b)   Explosive Magazine – precautions taken to prevent pilferage of explosive
 c)   Store room – general procedure of issuing store material
 d)   Winding engine room

  Draw sketch where ever necessary collect the Additional information where ever
  necessary

Coal Dust Treatment a) Study the stone dusting procedure i) Type of stone dust being used, Specifications ii) What are the places where it is used iii) What quantities are used iv) Method of spreading stone dust v) Dusting plan vi) Statutory requirements b) Coal dust collection / cleaning and removal – sampling study sampling plan i) Method of collection of samples ii) Frequency of collection of sample iii) Analysis done on coal sample iv) Record of stone dusting and dust sampling c) Water spraying for dust suppression i) At faces ii) At conveyor junction etc. layout of pipe line and pump for the purpose. B) Blasting a) Name of explosive used - i) During development ii) During depillaring b) Type of explosive used – c) Weight of cartridge d) Diameter of cartridge e) Length of cartridge f) Charge per hole g) Total explosive charged in single face / single hole h) Stemming material used – i) Type of initiation – direct j) Type of detonator used – its construction details and specification. k) Study of following blasting tools. i) Exploder – its name, type – magneto or battery condenser capacity in terms of round it can blast at a time, operating details – direction of key ii) Circuit tester for continuity iii) Crimper iv) Scraper v) Crack detector vi) Stemming rod i) Powder factor ii) Detonator factor VI) MINE SUPPORTS Study the different types of supports used , in the mine and collect the following information regarding each type of support – General Information a) Name of support – prop / chock / cog / cross-bar / safari support / roof stitching / roof bolting / friction prop / hydraulic prop / brick walling / any other type. b) Type of support – permanent / semi permanent / temporary c) Method of erecting each type of support. d) Load bearing capacity of support – in case of hydraulic support i) Yield load and ii) Setting load. Additional information to be collected in case of i) Prop support – dimensions of lid, wedge, and base plate (if exit) ii) Chock / cog support – dimensions of sleepers used, pressure releasing devise (if installed) iii) Roof bolting – type of roof bolt, depth of hole, if mortar (mixture of sand and cement ) is used sand : cement ratio. e) Systematic support rules of the mine. – copy should be obtained. f) Withdrawal of supports – study the various type of safety devices used in withdrawing the support. Good sketches of all types of supports should be brought with dimensions work with Limba Misty on the faces for few days. VII) MINING MACHINERY A) Transportation
