Former toys included tops, teddy bears and dolls. Tops are toys that spin on an axis when twirled. Teddy bears are stuffed toys usually filled with cotton and soft fur that are popular gifts. Dolls are toys that resemble humans and have been used in rituals and as children's toys since ancient times. Today's toys include LEGO bricks, which are interlocking plastic bricks that can be assembled in many configurations, robots, and Hot Wheels die-cast toy cars.
3. Top
A top (also called spinning top or spintop) is a toy that can
be spun on an axis, balancing on a point. This motion is
produced in the most simple forms of top by twirling the stem
using the fingers. More sophisticated tops are spun by
holding the axis firmly while pulling a string or twisting a stick
or pushing an auger as shown in the pictures on this page.
In the kinds with an auger, an internal weight rotates,
producing an overall circular motion.
4. Teddy bear
The teddy bear is a stuffed toy bear. They are
usually stuffed with soft, white cotton and have
smooth and soft fur. It is an enduring form of a stuffed
animal in many countries, often serving the purpose
of entertaining children. In recent times, some teddy
bears have become collector's items. Now, teddy
bears come in various styles and people can dress
them up in many different articles of clothing. Teddy
bears are also among the most popular gifts for
children and significant others on Valentine's Day,
birthdays, Christmas and other holidays.
6. Doll
A doll is a toy of a human being, often used as a toy for children.
Dolls have traditionally been used in magic and religious rituals
throughout the world, and traditional dolls made of materials like
clay and wood are found in the Americas, Asia, Africa and Europe.
The earliest documented dolls go back to the ancient civilizations
of Egypt, Greece and Rome. Dolls being used as toys was
documented in Greece around 100AD. They have been made as
crude, rudimentay playthings as well as elaborate art. Modern doll
manufacturing has its roots in Germany going back to the 15th
century. With industrialization and the appearance of new
materials like porcelain and plastic, dolls were increasingly mass
produced. During the 20th century dolls became increasingly
popular as collectibles.
9. Toys today
Toys now are: lego, robots and hot
wheels.
10. LEGO bricks
LEGO bricks-consists of colorful interlocking plastic bricks
and an accompanying array of gears, minifigures and
various other parts. Lego bricks can be assembled and
connected in many ways, to construct such objects as
vehicles, buildings, and even working robots. Anything
constructed can then be taken apart again, and the pieces
used to make other objects.
11. HOT WHEELS
Hot Wheels is a brand of die cast toy car,
introduced by American toymaker Mattel
