CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY AND RESPONSIBILITY (CSR)

Anticipate the Second Conference Following the Success of Its Predecessor
At present, Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility (CSR) is a pressing concern not
only to Corporations, but also to NGOs, Indigenous Groups, the Government and the Academe.
As such, many anticipate the Second Philippine Conference on Research in CSR, which
encourages participants to take hold of opportunities involving research networks and case
writing related to CSR. The Key Speaker of this year’s Conference is Mr. Thomas Thomas
from Singapore. He is the CEO of the ASEAN CSR Network Ltd. and Executive Director of
Singapore Compact for CSR. Indeed an expert in his field, Mr. Thomas will give a Situationer
on CSR and CSR Research in Asia.
The Second Philippine Conference on Research in CSR is a marquee event of the CSR
Research Institute under the Benita & Catalino Yap Foundation and the SACT College System,
together with the UST Graduate School, co-sponsored by the Management Association of the
Philippines.
Aiming to provide a venue for discussing the latest ideas in CSR and to further the CSR
Research agenda, Conference Chair Arch. Felino Palafox invites everyone to the Second
Philippine Conference on Research in CSR, which will be held on September 3, 2012 at the
Thomas Aquinas Research Center Auditorium, University of Sto. Tomas Graduate School,
España, Manila from 8 AM to 5 PM.
The Conference also presents well-renowned speakers from the Philippines. A top Social
Entrepreneur in the country, Ms. Pacita Juan (President of the ECHOstore Sustainable Lifestyle
and Chair of the Philippine Coffee Board) will talk about Social Entrepreneurship as an Option
for Business and Education. A well-renowned scholar, Dr. Alvin Ang (UST Graduate School

Issues) will speak about CSR Research.
Moreover, the Conference includes prominent personalities as its Panel of Reactors. The
Panel includes: Engr. Alejandro Teves Escaño (President of TEVSAPHIL and President of
Meralco Foundation); Mr. David Balangue, (Past Chairman of SyCip, Gorres, Velayo & Co.);
Mr. Eduardo V. Francisco (President of BDO Capital & Investment of Banco De Oro Universal
Bank and President of Management Association of the Philippines); Mr. Jonathan Juan C.
Moreno (Managing Consultant at the Palladium Group Inc.); Professor Francisco L. Roman
(Executive Director of the RVR Center for Corporate Social Responsibility and Coordinator for
the Journal Research Group); Dr. Catherine Q. Castañeda (Regional Director IV of the
Commission on Higher Education NCR); and Dr. Luz Almeda (Director of DepEd NCR).
The Conference is also supported by various prominent associations, which include: the
Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities; Philippine Association of Colleges
