2. Botox / Dermal Fillers
BOTOX® Cosmetic is safe and effective therapy that
eliminates facial wrinkles and frown lines, and softens harsh
expressions. BOTOX® Cosmetic has also been used
successfully to treat patients with excessive sweating in the
armpits, hands, or feet.
3. Where can BOTOX® Cosmetic be
injected?
The most common areas of use of BOTOX® Cosmetic are
the frown lines between the eyebrows, the horizontal
forehead lines, and the crow’s feet. On occasion, some
other areas may be treated as well.
4. When does BOTOX® Cosmetic start to
work, and how long does it last?
The results of your BOTOX® Cosmetic treatment will begin
to appear in three to four days. The effect will last three to
four months, after which the treated muscles will gradually
regain their action. When the frown line starts to
reappear, a simple repeat treatment is all that is necessary
to maintain the desired results.
5. How safe is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® Cosmetic has been used safely and successfully in
ophthalmology for over 10 years, and for wrinkle therapy
for over 6 years. In the amounts used for wrinkle therapy
the only possible side effects are temporary and localized to
the area of injection.
6. JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel /
Dermal Fillers
JUVÉDERM® injectable gel is used to temporarily add
volume to facial tissue and restore a smoother appearance
to the face. It is also used to redefine the size and shape of
the lips. It is injected into areas of facial tissue where
moderate to severe wrinkles and folds occur. Most patients
need one treatment to achieve optimal results which
typically last 9-12 months.
7. What is JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel?
JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel is a safe and natural cosmetic
dermal filler composed of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid
is a naturally occurring sugar found in the human body.
The role of hyaluronic acid in the skin is to deliver
nutrients, hydrate the skin by holding water, and to act as a
cushioning agent.
8. Is JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel safe?
Yes. JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel is FDA approved, meaning
that clinical data on its safety and effectiveness were
reviewed by the FDA prior to approval. In clinical trials
most side effects were mild to moderate in nature and
lasted 7 days or less. The most common side effects
include, but are not limited to, temporary injection site
reactions such as
redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps
, bruising, itching, and discoloration.
9. Restylane®
Restylane® & Hylaform are safe fillers that work best for
well-defined wrinkles, deep smile lines and to enhance and
add fullness to the lips. Restylane can also be used to
replace volume loss in the hands. Sculptra® is an injectable
filler that restores and corrects the signs of facial fat loss by
replacing lost volume. The results accrue over time
providing an increase in skin thickness, creating a more
natural facial appearance.
10. Restylane®
Restylane® is an FDA approved gel that is injected into the
skin adding volume to the lips and filling wrinkles and folds
in the skin. Restylane® is a non-animal based
substance, making it safe alternative for those patients
allergic to collagen. Results from Restylane® are apparent
almost immediately and typically, last much longer than
collagen.
11. What is Restylane®?
Restylane® is safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that
restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct
moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as
nasolabial folds.
12. Is Restylane® safe?
Yes. Restylane® has been used by dermatologists and
plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide. There is limited risk
of animal-based transmission or allergic reaction.
Restylane® is fully biocompatible and allergy testing is not
required. Restylane® contains trace amounts of gram-
positive bacterial proteins and should not be use by
patients with a history of allergies to such material. After
your treatment, you might have some redness or swelling.
This will normally last less than seven days. Sunbathing
and cold outdoor activities should be avoided until any
redness or swelling disappear. If you are
pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18, you shouldn't use
Restylane®.
13. Can Restylane® be used anywhere on
the face?
Restylane® has been used in more than 3 million
treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of
wrinkles. In the U.S. the FDA has approved Restylane for
wrinkles and folds like the ones form the nose to the
corners of the mouth. Your doctor will consult with you prior
to your injection regarding common treatment areas.
14. How long does Restylane® last?
Restylane® is proven to deliver long lasting results.
Studies have shown that Restylane® effects generally last
for about six months. Restylane’s® stabilization technology
helps maintain the cosmetic effect until the injected
material is nearly gone.
