Nature in Literature: Basho and Voltaire Nature plays a huge role in many pieces of literature, but
especially Basho's Narrow Road to the Deep North and Voltaire's Candide. There is a major
difference between the two forms of literature and how nature is incorporated into each. This
Japanese form of literature has a much lighter tone than that of the European style of literature.
You can see a calmer, more relaxed intention into the nature that is in Basho's Narrow Road to the
Deep North. On page 413 in Basho's piece, it says "As the year gradually came to an end and spring

In the opening paragraph on page 454, Voltaire writes "Once upon a time in Westphalia, in the castle
of Baron Thunder–ten–tronckh, there lived a young boy whom nature had endowed with the
gentlest of dispositions." This opening sentence makes you believe that it could have a similar
feel to Basho's story. When you reach page 460, there is a line that says "While he was presenting
his argument, the air grew thick, the winds blew from the four corners of the earth, and the ship
was assailed by the most terrible storm, within sight of the port of Lisbon." This passage not only
shows you that the nature of the story is a lot more dramatic, but it also shows you that Voltaire is
more focused on the weather instead of the landscape. There is a dramatic earthquake and a storm
that destroys the ship that they are on. Page 461 says "Whirlwinds of flame and ash covered the
streets and public squares: houses disintegrated, roofs were upended upon foundations, and
foundations crumbled." Voltaire writing this in his passage just shows the reader how awful and
destructive the earthquake actually was. While you understand that they encountered a massive
destructive earthquake, they do actually see some light at the end of all the horrible events. On
page 467, it says "'All will be well,' was Candide's reply. 'Already the sea in this new world is better

Context for Usage: The grade levels this text is designed to prepare educators for teaching is
evidenced first in its overall discussion of properly preparing students to be able to write on demand
for state assessment tests. Given that such tests do not regularly take place until students are out of
elementary education it is apparent that this text is directed towards teachers working with a
higher age bracket. This is also further revealed in instances where teachers are directed to help
students think backwards, a skill that is not highly promoted in elementary education as most
children at this age level have not yet developed the capacity to think backwards. The process
described for enabling students to analyze prompts is also one that would be dominantly used
beyond the beginning years of education. Considering each of these factors, the aim of this text is
to be utilized by teachers working with a middle school to high school age bracket.

Also using a questionnaire is a quick way to
obtain information and can cover a wide area of matters with just a few questions,
whereas if I had used an interview as my method it would of taken a much longer
amount of time and I might of not been able to get the answers that I needed out of
my candidates. Another bonus of using a questionnaire, would be that once I have
received all of the information I will be able to put my findings into the relevant
tables, and then I will be able to compare my findings to the secondary data that I
have gathered with and will be able to do this with ease.

However, based on my experience, an effective Bible interpretation not only tells what the passage
mean but it should be able to satisfy the spiritual needs of the people to make them desire God more
in their lives. My Bible interpretational method varies because I normally consider my audience
spiritual needs, interests and weaknesses to get their attention to listen to God's truth and benefit
from what they will discover about God.

The scientific community has debated the methodology of the attainment of knowledge since

Fresh Produce score was a 55.4% which is a 0.5% decline compared to last quarter. District 5 showed
improvement in both with a 0.9% increase in their Meat and Seafood freshness score and a 1%
increase in their fresh produce score. District 2 also raised their Fresh Meat and Seafood score by
0.1%.
Some of our best performers with all of our priorities in quarter 1 were the following stores–
Stores 180, 300, 609, 38, 190 and 367 all met at least two of the four goals and store 156 has met
the goals for In stock, Friendly and Fresh Meat and Seafood! Way to go 156! That team there is
really dedicating their energy to doing what's best for the customer.
