My hand was moving fast across the page checking things about myself that I didn't even need to
think about. Personally I stop checking boxes and my left hand started to absentmindedly fingle with
the freshly sharpened pencil in my hand. A question that came naturally to most people What is a

her parents has to do something to her hair" when I left the room. And my mothers side of the family
was no better since they always suggested that i straighten my hair––even though i wasn't even in
middle school yet. but as I grew older and slowly Felt less hostile towards my mixed background, i

Critical and creative thinking are fundamental to human intellectual progress and artifacts thereof
(Dewey, Elder, Csikszentmihalyi, Rosenman, & Gero, 2012). Critical and creative thinking are
considered higher levels of thought because while it is believed that critical thinker primarily uses

Creative thinkers are curious, imaginative, inventive, explorative and open minded. Almost 20
years ago, my husband of 20 years passed away. A few years later, my father passed away also.
They were the only 2 men that I had known in my life, so it was an incident in my life that left
gaping holes. At the time, I loved in North Carolina and that is also the place that both my late
husband and father resided at the time of their deaths as well, so there were so many bad
memories. I had made a decision to move 400 miles away from my children that also lived in

barriers that stop the gathering of information and analyzing that are key to being a critical thinker. A
few of the resistances that foster narrow–mindedness are denial, the refusal to believe something

My Opinion On Critical Thinking
Attending this class was pretty nerve reacting, English is my worst subject and I tend not to do
so well on it. I told myself that I need to get better at English because it matters and maybe one
day I'll make it my favorite subject. What I think of critical thinking still reminds the same, I

Reflection On Critical Thinking
It is been three months now since I joined this informative class of Critical Thinking and
therefore, it's time to get prepared for the final exams because this is the second last week of the
semester. I choose to register for this class Critical thinking although I didn't know what it entails.
I did it out the believe that I was going to get some good education out of it. The class is scheduled
twice a week, i.e Monday and Wednesday. Our class consist of Twenty students and Mr. Julian
Beltran is in charge of the class as our Instructor. It was a chilly morning on a Monday and I got
ready and headed for my class. On my first day, I had to go to school early in order to get time to
walk around the whole building and get a good orientation of my class since it was my first day of

parked my car. I entered the building and headed upstairs where the classrooms from number
200–250 were upstairs. I so excited when I meet with fellow classmates waiting outside our
classroom number 212. Within a very short time, Mr. Beltran arrived and he ushered into the
classroom for the very first session. The class was cool and calm, everybody was eagerly waiting

What Is Critical Thinking? There are a number of definitions of critical thinking. Some depict
critical thinking as a broad construct (Davidson & Dunham, 1997) which centers primarily on
reasonable and reflective thinking which is focused on what to believe or do, while others view it
more narrowly, specific to a certain content area (McPeck, 1981). Halvorsen (2005) believes that
critical thinking is not an easy concept to define, as it can mean quite different things to different

Ideal critical thinkers are informed, open minded, fair, realistic about bias, and careful in making
judgments (Abrami, et.al, 2008). Critical thinking consists of specific skills as opposed to
psychological attributes. Critical thinking skills can be transferable across contexts although there
is debate on how to teach skills (generalist or specifist perspective) (Abrami, et.al, 2008, cited in
Anderson, 2011). There is much controversy about whether it is possible to include critical thinking
strategies in education or not and whether critical thinking can be taught or not. However, in spite of

2.3 Thinking in Education Education, perhaps the most basic need for people, is the process that
provides the development of human. According to Meyer (1976) the aim of education is to nurture
the individual, to help the to realize the full potential that already exists inside him or her. There has
always been a strand of educational thought that held that the strengthening of the child's thinking
should be the chief business of the schools and not just an incidental outcome – if it happened at all (

Questioning and challenging my assumptions and attitudes about critical thinking is a new process
for me, but I do appreciate that to develop and enhance my assumptions and other mindsets it is an
important undertaking. Looking at what we hold to be true is an endeavor well trenched into us as
we evolved. "The real value of critical thinking is that it's been at the root of all human progress"
(Rabinowitz, 2015).
Being challenged on my thinking is difficult, but once I got through the difficulty I realized it was
for my betterment as a student and as a teacher. My prior experience as an undergraduate in early
childhood education with Bloom's focused mainly on the cognitive domain and thus I cannot recall
the affective or psychomotor domains being addressed. However, as I began to understand that "the
committee identified three domains of educational activities or learning" (Bloom, 1956 as cited by
Clark, 2015), I realized that I did have assumptions and that they were being challenged. First of all,
I did assume that Bloom's focus on cognitive development devalues the importance of other domains
and secondly that Bloom's Taxonomy is only used by educators in K–12 and college. Interestingly,
both have since been challenged and changed through my readings as "it is important to note that the
most common usage of Bloom's Taxonomy focuses on cognitive learning skills rather than
psychomotor or affective skills, two domains that are crucial to the success of health
