Intelligent Transportation System ( ITS ) created
First starting in US in 1995
2018, Indian express
7. ITS is an emerging transportation system which is comprised of an advanced information &
telecommunications network for users, roads & vehicles.
ITS is the integrated application of advanced Technologies using electronics, computers, communications,

The term (ITS) refers to information and communication technology, applied to transport, infrastructure
and vehicles, that improve transport outcomes.
ITS is a worldwide initiative to improve the transportation system.
Its aim is to manage vehicles , passengers and routes , etc…..
It is used to improve safety , vehicle wear , transportation time.
It enhance quality of environment.
8. ITS is an emerging transportation system which is comprised of an advanced information &
telecommunications network for users, roads & vehicles.

Shortest path always help to reach the destination in short time
Closet Facilities will reduce the cost of transportation
City Bus Routes is help to find the path way of each bus in a city

Ramp metering
26. • It is a programmable display system with a LED screen (11.4 × 8.4 cm)
• Speaker provision is provided for listening audio information
• Digitized human word at a rate of 150 words/ min audio information
27. • The in-vehicle eCall is generated either manually by the vehicle occupants or automatic
via activation of in - vehicle sensors after an accident.
• When activated, device will establish an emergency call carrying both voice & data
directly to the nearest emergency point (nearest Public safety answering point, PSAP).
• The voice call enables vehicle occupant to communicate with the eCall operator.
• At same time, a minimum set of data will be sent to eCall operator receiving the voice call.
• The minimum set of data contains information about the incident, including time, precise
location, the direction the vehicle was traveling, and vehicle identification.
30. • Automobile Traffic
• Public Transport
• Parking
• Airport Arrivals/Departures
• News, Banking, Stocks…
31. Information of available slot for park
Guidance to
- Available facility
- Actual spot
32. • Electronic toll collection (ETC.) makes it
possible for vehicles to drive through toll gates
at traffic speed, reducing congestion at toll plazas
and automating toll collection.
• An application of electronic signature detection
to passenger and commercial vehicle traffic for
the purpose of collecting tolls
• Allowing motorists to pass through the system
at highway speeds
• Transponder: radio frequency identification
unit that transmits radio signals
33. Changeable Message Sign (CMS)
Highway Advisory Radio (HAR)
Global Positioning System (GPS)
Geographic Information System ( GIS )
Car Display System ( CDS )
Best Route Analysis
Wireless Communications
[Also Part Of Application Orientated]
34. Changeable Message Sign (CMS)
Devices of this system is provided on the side of the road
It provide update information about traffic congestions
It give information to the vehicle to take diversions , speed limit etc..
Information about road failure
Changeable Message Signal In Germany ( www.samsclub.com )
35. Highway Advisory Radio ( HAR )
Airport authority of US was first created this.
Information is transmitted through small road side
transmitters
AM/FM methods are used for data transmission
It provide warnings , advisories and direction to the
drivers.
Each message is less than one minute duration
HighwayAdvisory Ratio (www.samsclub.com)
36. WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS
Radio modem communication on UHF and VHF frequencies are widely used for short and
long range communication within ITS.
Short-range communications (less than 450 meters) can be accomplished using IEEE
802.11 protocols. Theoretically, the range of these protocols can be extended using
Mobile ad-hoc networks or Mesh networking.
Longer range communications have been proposed using infrastructure networks such as
WiMAX (IEEE 802.16), Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM), or 3G.
40. • Point sensors are placed at specified point
• Range of this sensor is very small

Automatic working will save National Income.
Initial setting cost of ATIS is very high.
Traffic problem in India can easy to solve by this.
Lac of land consumption is the major problem.
54. Adeveloped country is not a place where poor have cars. Its where the rich use public transportation
