3. INQUIRY BASED LEARNING
Inquiry based learning reminds me a lot of what I do as a learner. When I
want to know more, I go research that topic until I am satisfied with the
knowledge that I have gained. In class, when it mentioned that if a teacher is
doing all the work something is wrong with that learning environment of the
classroom, it clicked with me. Not only am I that type of learner, but that is
the type of classroom I want to be a leader of. Students need to take charge
of their learning just as much as their teacher. Not only will I inspire my
students to want to know as much they can, I will inspire them that there isn‟t
anything that can stop them from knowledge except for themselves. All
individuals are the key to their own learning.
5. INCORPORATING DIVERSITY
IN THE CLASSROOM
My experience with being diverse isn‟t necessarily racial or cultural, but in
that I have a hearing impairment. As a student throughout grade school this
made me a “different” student in the classroom. I had a teaching assistant
and I required extra help with some situations. Having been one of the
students that contributes to the diversity in a classroom, I feel as if this
reflects largely on my view of myself as a learner. It impacts a lot more than
just my academic performance in the classroom. Therefore as a future
educator I feel that this will be an aspect of my classroom that I will be
particularly sensitive about. Experiences of being segregated in the
classroom due to this disability has left me a huge advocate for equal
treatment of students with special needs in the education system.

7. HIGH TECH HIGH
VIDEO/QUOTE
High Tech High offers the ideal setting for a high school. There isn‟t
segregation based on socioeconomic status, race, academics, or wealth. All
students are treated equally and all students are aspiring for the same goals.
Students are being prepared for their best abilities, whether that is university,
tech schools, or trade schools. None are treated as better than the other.
Students are directed to where their aptitudes lie. This is how schools should
be conducted. These kids are in an open environment to learning, despite
their strengths and weaknesses. My dream as a future educator is to inspire
this kind of school culture and climate into my classroom, and encourage all
students to achieve their highest potential.
9. UNIVERSAL DESIGN OF
LEARNING
The Universal Design of Learning describes the exact type of teaching
style that I want to portray: a flexible learning environment that
accommodates to all different types of students. Having been one of
those „different‟ students I feel as if though I will strive to meet the
needs of those students whom are diverse themselves. Having those
school experiences will help me to empathize how those students
might feel. By erasing the barriers between students and learning it
enables kids to have the best learning experience possible. I feel like
the photo representing UDL shows this by having a globe in a hand.
By enabling students to learn everything that‟s in their potential, they
will be able to hold the world with their hands, and aspire to whatever
they want to be.

11. TEACHING, EDUCATIONAL
PRACTICES-SERIES 1
I feel as if though this quote encompasses what teachers should aspire to
achieve. Not only is teaching about helping students learn, it is encouraging
them to stretch further then their comfort zones and really become learners. I
had a teacher like this in high school. She didn‟t just teach you calculus and
the math curriculum. She encouraged you to look at real life examples and
show us that what we are learning is actually applicable in real life. She
caused us to go out in the real world and see the application of our
knowledge from the classrooms. This is the type of teaching that I will strive
for when in the classroom.
