 Globalization : the process by which
businesses or other organizations develop
international influence or start operating on
an international scale.
 Discernment: business savvy, cultural
sensitive, and good old wisdom.
 1. Is our globalization initiative a win-win?
 2. Are we sending people with the single
quality they need the most , discernment?
 3. Are we being real about risk ?
 4. Are we taking full advantage of our foreign
foray`s upside out ?
 Do we have something truly unique ?
 We should know the needs and wants ?
 Is our technology exceptional and
revolutionary?
 Can we protect from easily copied and
quickly sold for less ?
 He describe past, present and tell about
China, and brands.
Example: David`s bridal in US, Paul Pressler,
swing in China and now in Srilanka.
 1st year: Useless and in confusion.
 2nd year: Beginning into relationships, local
customers, and markets.
 3rd year: finally functioning.
 BOTTOM LINE: It needs to be play more than
fair and plan for long term.
 He describe about hurdles and difficult phase
of foreign assignments, people and
company`s decisions about sending heir
employees.
 We need to send a discernment person who
can initiate, confident, move forward, good
judge, respect local customs and norms.
 Example: Disney in Japan, new idea of cheery
greeters.
 He also define different ways to manage
global risk, which include compliance and
making rules, that are strict, safer and
productive and a very careful behavior
towards negativity of society.
 Example: BunnyWilliam a renowned interior
designer and the challenges she faced.
 Globalization is expensive and risky.
 He define innovation greatly here.
 Example. BunnyWilliam experience lacquer
finish on local products.
 Bottom line : Globalization is not just
exporting or sourcing, its for learning and
innovating.
 Make every partnership a win-win.
 Send only those people who have
discernment.
 Get sweaty about risk.
 Expend yourself and be innovative.
