  2. 2. What is Kid Writing? <ul><li>It is a highly successful approach to early literacy which was developed over the course of 10 to 15 years first in Eileen's and then Isabell's classrooms. </li></ul><ul><li>Kid Writing is a technique for teaching young writers to write. </li></ul>
  3. 3. How is Kid Writing Structured? <ul><li>Students are given a writing journal that is dated everyday </li></ul><ul><li>Students select the topic to write about and begin writing. </li></ul><ul><li>Students then draw a picture to match their story. </li></ul>

How is the Writing Process Started? <ul><li>Students generate a sentence to write. </li></ul><ul><li>Students with the help of the teacher stretch out words phonetically. </li></ul><ul><li>Students use magic lines (-) for any words or sounds that are unknown. </li></ul><ul><li>Students then draw a picture to match their writing. </li></ul>
