be confident in doing the right thing in any situation.
Review the following curriculum with a group or by
yourself and reflect on instances when you have shown
the following qualities and instances when you have
failed to show these qualities.

Instructions
4. Have a Positive Attitude6
Unhappiness people experience in life comes because we listen to
ourselves (negative voices) rather than talk to ourselves
(positive voices).
Attitude is a choice, and your attitude helps determine your actions,
and your coach is expecting you to be positive at all times.
Leaders address teammates negativity the right away!
If you have an issue with your coach, never be negative in a team
setting – wait and talk to your coach 1 on 1 – He/ She wants to hear
from you!
5. Be a Problem Solver7
Leaders anticipate problems, see the big picture, and do not get
overwhelmed by emotions although most teammates get too
emotional and lose control.
Your teammates see obstacles all the time and find reasons for why
something cannot get done, but leaders see possibilities. Always ask
people their solutions to an obstacle they bring up.
6. Take Responsibility8
Your role as a leader is to always put the team ahead of your own
personal desires, or personal agenda.
You can never say, “it’s not my job”. Your teammates are always
watching your actions, so if you slack off and blame others, you can’t
lead effectively.
7. Have Security in Who You Are9
You can’t lead people if you are always looking for approval from
coaches, fans or friends.
Insecure people don’t provide support for others and constantly need
validation from others – Give more high 5’s than you get!
You can’t lead people if you need people No matter how good you are
at what you do, competence never compensates for insecurity.
Leadership can be lonely at times.
8. Have Self-Discipline:10
Lead yourself! Discipline is knowing what to do and doing the right
thing every time – NO repeat mistakes.
Leaders determine priorities and call out the excuses of teammates
for having a lack of discipline
