blocks for a very wide variety of
chemical products.
The most important requirements for

Because of the pyrolysis
reaction, thermally insulating
hydrocarbon is deposited on
the tube walls, so reducing the
effective cross-sectional area.
To ensure a constant mass flow

DRI REFORMERS
Direct reduction plants are an integral
part of steel works. In them, iron-rich
ores are reduced by hydrogen-rich gas
using the counterflow method. This
results in intermediates for steel
production such as sponge iron or pig
iron. There are two well-known
processes for this – MIDRIX and HyL.

The extreme loading due to
corrosion places enormous
demands on the materials used in
the production of oil and gas.
We master this challenge using our
corrosion resistant standard and
special alloys for the onshore and
offshore sectors.

CORROSION
Safety is the number one priority
in the offshore and onshore
industries. The corrosion risks are
however on the increase:
• More acidic oil and gas fields
• Higher temperatures
• Increasing deep-sea pressures
Our high corrosion-resistant
duplex, super-duplex and nickel-
based alloys provide you with the
necessary safety.
Carbon steel is susceptible to
sulphide-induced stress corrosion
cracking. The material surface
reacts with hydrogen sulphide
which leads to brittleness and
subsequent failure due to crack
formation.
