13. ABOUT THE PROGRAM TARGET GROUP The “KEEP FIT!” program is aimed at pupilsattendingelementary school, (aged 11-12), and junior high school, (aged 13-15),togetherwith their parents. The first phase of the program wascompleted over three years, (1st, 2nd and 3rd edition), and thesecondphaseiscurrentlyunderway, (4th, 5th and 6th edition).

TARGET GROUP The 11-15 yearsagegroupswereselectedprimarilybecause; Itiswellrecognisedthatchildrenduringtheirformativeyearsestablishpatterns of lifestylebehaviourthattend to persistintoadulthoodwhenagedaround 11-15 years. Furthermore, physicalactivity/exceriseaftertheseagesbeginsto markedlydecrease. Itisthereforevitalthatcounter-measurescan be takenatthis time. 8.02.1031.01.10 ABOUT THE PROGRAM

PROJECT TOOLS ‘Health Plate’ Poster - presents groups of food products forming a model daily food rationbased on current scientific opinion. - the size of the circle fractionsthat refer to each group of products corresponds with their sharein the diet in terms of the energyand nutrients supplied by each product.
27. IMPLEMENTATION STEP 1 Local units of the State Sanitary Inspection make schoolmasters an offerto join the ”Keep Fit!” Program.
28. IMPLEMENTATION STEP 2 Schools acceptingthe offer appoint a school program coordinator. The coordinator receives support from theschool nurse, PE and otherteachers as well as thelocal authority, media and experts.
29. IMPLEMENTATION STEP 3 Each school receives the ”know-how” package, (trainingmanuals, materials, tools), from the local Sanitary Inspection unit and launches the Program.
