2. Marina and the Diamonds
Marina Lambrini Diamandis is the lead
singer of the indie pop band Marina and
the Diamonds, she is a Welsh singer-
song writer who is of Greek decent.
Marina was discovered by Warner
Music group when opening a concert for
an Australian artist in 2008, she was
then signed to 679 Recordings (who is
owned by Warner Music Group) in
October 2008.
She released 3 singles ‘Obsessions’,
‘Mogil’s Road’ and ‘I’m not a Robot’,
however her first major single was
‘Hollywood’ released on 1st February
2010. Following this she re-released
‘I’m not a Robot’ on 26th April 2010,
‘Oh No!’ on 2nd August 2010 (which
is the song we are using for our
music video) and ‘Shampain’ on 11th
October 2010.
3. Marina’s Successes
Since May 2009 Marina has performed at many festivals such as Radio 1’s Big
Weekend, Glastonbury Festival as well as the Reading and Leads Festivals.
GMTV, Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and Later… with Jools Holland are also
just some of the television shows Marina has performed at in just over a year.
Marina Lambrini Diamandis was also nominated for eight awards in 2010, she
was the runner up for the Sound of 2010 and won the Best UK & Irish
Act for MTV. Therefore she is the perfect current artist whose
song we have permission to use for our music video.

Marina and the Diamonds’ record label is 679
Recordings which is part of the Warner Music
Group. The record label was formed in 2001 in
partnership with Warner Music, and specializes in
“Nothing but futurist popmusic” [679artists.com].
Other artists which are part of 679 Recordings are
Little Boots, Plan B, Sirens Sirens, Spark and The
Streets.
