T-max : 1 hour
IV and oral formulations are bioequivalent  switch /
sequential therapy
Minimal hepatic metabolism; 2 metabolites identified in

Half life is 6 – 8 hours

9. Dosage
500mg once daily, which enhances patient
compliance.
Bioequivalent Oral or IV , allows for switch
therapy.
Dosage and duration depends on the type and
severity of infection.
Continue for a further 48 - 72 hours after patient
is afebrile or evidence of bacteriological
eradication.
